Received a $1,200.32 check from AT&T with description as "service refund"?
I am retired from SBC about 20 years ago & don't have any AT&T services.
I'm pretty sure someone made a mistake & I'm not calling them to ask what it's for.
I cashed it yesterday & waiting 3 days to see if it clears - if it does AT&T will have to sue
me in court to get the money back.
Any ideas? Who else got a phantom check?

I'm still waiting for my money for nothing.
“I got a check for 4500$ yesterday”.
What part of the country. Do you reside in that gets USPS delivery on Sunday?

Anyone in craft receive a check or just managers?
You will all be brought to justice for fraud.
Really? Explain.
If I'm sent a check then how exactly can I be accused of fraud? All I did was cash my check for $2153.53 that at&t so graciously wanted to gift me. No paperwork, no explanation, no problem. They decided that they owe me a refund and I accept. Offer. Acceptance. Contract.
Anybody know hoow I can get goberment cheese, WIC or freeze money?
I wanna check. I needa check. Whare's my check?
So many T employees would take welfare if it was offered! This post is embarrassing.

Will former (surplussed) employees get the check too?
Are they sending checks to illegals also? I crossed over a year ago and I'm looking for more dinero. Living the Americano dream.
Not sure everyone will receive a check. The common theme appears to be the older you are the less you receive in your check. I'm just glad I received mine today. It's always nice to receive a decent check in the mail that you were not expecting.
Is everyone receiving this check in management or retired management?
The Post Office just delivered a check for $1341.75 with no explanation. Memo was for some type of refund. Don't get it but it was a nice surprise. I also buy nothing from AT&t.
Sure wish this arrives again every month for the rest of the year? I'm still an active employee.
I too would like some clarification. Who is receiving these checks? Folks who retired and are collecting a monthly annuity check or people who took buyout? The answer might explain why some are receiving versus some should not expect a check…hopefully, since it doesn’t appear any explanations are coming with the checks.
Nine years retired from at&t services, took cash payout, I didn't trust taking the annuity! I hope you receive your check soon.
A question asking for a bit of clarification. If you received a check, were you receiving a monthly annuity retirement check or did you take a cash buyout at your retirement? Thanks in advance.
Is this a scam? Who else received a check? And when I can expect mine?
Got mine today. $2487 check via USPS, not sure what qualifies to receive a check. Just happy to get this money with the price of gas!
ways ma Chet ?
I didn't get a check but i want one. Do i call payroll and tell them they missed me in their mistake?
I received a check also around that amount. My wife in payroll said that someone made a programming mistake and that amount is for your life insurance premium that the company would have paid for your coverage but paid to you in a check before restricting the coverage to $15000 for managers. You will receive a W-2 from Alight in December.
I plan to pay the Tax as usual to the IRS and will also not return the money. Evidently the T layed the persons off who handled this and offshored the work to India.
Sanjeep, I mean "Bob" is going to call asking you to do the needful and return such funds as soon as appropriate. Tank Q.
Good Luck in trying to find someone to give the information on it. ATT customer service is notorious for putting customers on hold... forever.
I will be checking the mail
Niiiiiice!!!
Yeah. I received a check last week for a little over $1800. Cashed it and didn't think about it. Just figured the C-Suite decided to give me a 1 time inflation raise on my pension.
Oh well. It's mine now.
