It's now become pretty common here that people stay for a few days only. Perhaps I don’t know much about business, but isn’t it a bigger expense to hire and train a new hire who leaves in a month or two, than try to keep an employee who actually cares and puts in effort in their work?

It doesn't take more than a week or so to figure out that this company could be better managed by drunken monkeys.
Longevity is the key to a successful operation. It is not cost effective to have a turnover like Sam's experiences. These newbies are not properly trained, therefore it reflects on the so called "legendary member service". I agree that the company needs to be aware of the people who come to work everyday and have positive work ethics.
