T just realized they need to stay in their swim lane giving their limited skill set. There is nothing wrong with just being a service provided (much simpler business model) since there is plenty of opportunities to turn a profit. Cutting the dividend is needed along with downsizing the employee base that does not support Fiber build & Wireless.
If they had cut the dividend years ago, T would have gone bankrupt.
We are back to being a big old d-mb telecommunications and infrastructure pipe company. May be we should get into entertainment and digital field for growth :)
maybe a concerted multi year initiative to payoff debt ... perhaps hire Dave Ramsey to consult on his snowball method
The dividend was the only thing supporting this stock price. What's Stankey going to spend the money on? Considering how AT&T irresponsibly blows every penny they have on bad acquisitions and then destroys those companies, giving the money to shareholders was the least destructive thing they could have done.
Indeed!
again lets make it a good thing just like buying companies high and selling low.
att creative accounting that you put customers through.
upside world.
It’s ok to be the top/best at something but we’d rather be in the middle, it seems. Benefits were too good across other companies, cut them. Pensions too good, cut them. Time off too good for tenured employees, cut it.
More of the same and same excuse qualifier about being in line with other companies. That’s not a benchmark to strive towards. Mediocre.
"Even analysts don't seem too upset over it."
That depends how much the analysts were paid to write glowing reviews, pretending this is a good buy, while the dividend is in the shi**er and the stock price is lower than ever before.
Even analysts don't seem too upset over it.
