Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Too many changes, and most not for the better

The new IT portal is horrendous, clunky, one size fits all nightmare that's not user friendly and a pain to navigate.

They can't seem to get enough new hires in jobs so WF has once again turned to contract/temporary employees even for entry level phone-type banker positions in the states. Gee I wonder why they are having a hard time hiring or retaining talent with the cr---y way employees are being treated.

I did like getting bonus earlier but then this year they go and make retroactive changes to it and notify us at the end of the year, but we are told everything is going to be fine. Follow that up with the decision to move 401k matching to annual.

The new HR service system is unhelpful more often than not. I love seeing something in the old search saying it's now available in the new system only to get there and see the most generic basic description and no actual meat. Taking it further on actually submitting an hr request, it seems there has been some big outsourcing of HR to the Philippines. Gotta love asking something and getting a canned response unrelated to what was asked.

The develop you courses have gotten progressively less useful in their bid to make a one size fits all policy. Now you are given a company propaganda type statement about the subject heading your supposed to be learning, which is then followed up by a question that wasn't anywhere in the propaganda statement or prior headings. Doing a search in the policy library or any of the other number of links the course makes you click doesn't return the answers either but your expected to know the entire policy library now because sure, it makes complete sense for an entry level phone banker with no IT knowledge or career path to know the risk development life cycle of information access management in deployment of a production database update. Worse, even when you don't get it, after a couple attempts it tells you the correct answer (sometimes) then says you passed the course.

Removed commenting from most internal articles (this is actually probably a good thing), but it's why people now come to this site as we have 0 ability to vent anymore.

Empower is not as helpful as the old 401k site (IMO) but they sure want you to spend money for the extra benefit of better money management.

Changing the SPP provider causing a lengthy freeze in ability to make changes. Emails say to click here for "more information", however the HR site that pulls up provides almost word for word the same info as the email and nothing additional. Following the recommended further reading simply goes to related topics previously communicated. Guess we'll find out in January if there is any new costs or fees associated that weren't before.

They lay off 4 or 5 decent people, then hire 2 higher managers from BOA/Chase then rinse and repeat while rarely laying off the dregs who do the bare minimums.

Got rid of the STAR program and apparently starting in January, when you are displaced you are immediately terminated (while still being on severance), thus removing your ability to apply for internal jobs that aren't STAR.

They stopped doing team member credit cards as well recently.

Unfortunately I'm not yet able to just find another job, not without taking an unfortunately large hit to my 401k. I used to like the job, even the company despite the black eyes as I'd gotten into a good group who actually did things ethical. Now it just feels cut throat and they treat us like cr-p (upper leadership) while pretending they don't.

Pretty sure the STAR program is just dead now period so if that is true, you are just done after termination.

This is very interesting. Anyone have a source for this info about being immediately terminated? I haven’t found it in the Employee Handbook yet.

The 401k change is definitely a downer.

That a lot of sourness.

What's a team member credit card? You mean a corporate cc? If so, I still have one.

I would rather lay in bed at night with my $100,000/year kind and ethical husband who doesn’t have to stick it to others to make a living, than a $25,000,000/year snake-in-the-grass Charlie Scharf. A mansion and country club membership doesn’t make up for living with a man who’s only talent is being cold enough to hurt others in order to achieve “success”.
