Deli department going away?

Has anyone heard of this, my friend who works in Bentonville says they are looking to get rid of deli area. They are going to be replaced by deli machines, for slicing lunch meat by the pound for members.

I love Costco's meat and deli departments. Costco is a great retailer.

The new Deli Machines will still have to be refilled and cleaned. We'll still have a job.

We were just told this in our morning meeting today. I can’t believe it. Deli is a big part of fresh, but we were told sales are declining and this was the only way to integrate a declining department with a successful one. I feel bad for the meat department they already have so much to do. Crazy!

No big deal. It's not like that or the food court is pulling anyone away from Costco anyhow.

Yeah I heard last week from my manager that sometime in late March they will be removing the cold cases and placing a deli slicing island in that area. I was told those associates who work in that area will become apart of meat department and meat department associates will cover both areas

I heard this before, sometime after March, Deli sales have been declining and shelves are always empty and usually only one person works in the area and they usually disappear from the area anyway,
