I do. Every year I buy her a bottle of wine, nothing expensive, usually around $20... She's nice to the whole team and leads well - probably deservers much more.

My manager buys me nothing so he gets the same gift in return.
My people all have their own expenses, families, retirement goals, etc. I don’t want them to buy for me. It’s my job to ensure they have opportunities to advance their careers.

while I don't have a large team I try to buu them all something.
My boss buys gifts for the entire team. I return the gesture by buying a small priced gift card to an eatery. Same old every year. It's all ok.
I don’t give to my mgr, but I do buy something for my team and buy for some that I work closely with on another team. I really appreciate my team & those from other teams that support my team & want them to know that.
MY boss makes about 5x more than me and I make six figures. I think he can buy his own gifts.
