RTW - MW CIP

If we have a covid death as a result of a workplace infection will MW’s / leadership CIP be directly impacted? This would be considered an avoidable death?

Zero workplace deaths is always a number 1 priority

I'm a boomer and I have more than one degree, like many of my peers but that's meaningless without experience. Unless of course, maybe "Da world done passed me by" like someone posted, lmao!

The problem with millennials is they believe they know the best way to do anything. Shortcuts, copy and paste, cut back on quality, least amount of effort possible then wrap it in a nice package and push it through. Little do they know why all of these things were done and out in place due to the world of hard knocks. They have been doing this all of their life. They believe they are superior to everyone and know more then anyone. This is also why we don’t have any respect in this society anymore. It should be called the me me me me generation.

You're dreaming if you think this will impact MW's CIP. He will be well compensated no matter what.

Most of these boomers only have a bachelors degree. The younger workforce is more educated, tech savvy and smart enough to understand that we don’t all need to be in the same city or building to be productive.

@1sbm Spoken like a true boomer. When y'all gonna realize the world done passed you by?! It's time you boomer clowns get out of the way of the agile more-than-one-skillset millennials!

Hey millennial, when you figure out how to articulate a coherent thought, the rest of the world may consider paying attention to your babbling, whining and complaining. Until then, try to educate yourself.

@1xpg Not blaming this on chevron it’s 100% the federal government and these millennial, gen x, and woke individuals who voted them in power.

With that said you have to admit chevron has not kept up with their peers in pay increases for petrotechs. I imagine once O&G picks back up the petrotechs will be looking elsewhere.

@1lpg, The incredible rise in rent and property values anywhere does not have anything to do with Chevron’s pay. It has everything to do with inflation. Look mostly to our federal government for placing blame. Chevron has absolutely nothing to do with it. They pay a superior salary than most other employers, so consider yourself blessed to still have a job here with the company. BTW, you sound like a millennial or GenX with socialist tendencies. Go suk on your mommy’s t!t and calm down.

@1fjk Agree Houston’s a dump and getting worse. The worse part is chevron doesn’t even pay their petrotechs enough to live in the city anymore. Back when I moved to chevron from another company 15 years ago we got paid less but could still afford housing and decent areas in the city. But today our pay has not keep up and the cities housing cost has gone through the roof. Not to mentions if you want to be out or the city and suburbs you have to drive over an hour. I am trying to find a new career field to pivot to do I can pivot out of this dump we call Houston

@1pok The commute is not optional for people who value their safety, a quality public education system for our families, and space to play in a modest yard. The violent crime rate is double the national average in Houston. The Houston schools are among the worst in the country. A home with a small backyard is over $1MM. Not all of us want to live in a $2MM house in the Heights and shuttle our kids to $25k/year private school.

That leadership is determined to return workers as omicron runs rampant is a serious concern. If safety and health are truly top priority, they will push the delay back to protect health and safety of workforce and operations. If they don't, it only shows they health and safety is a kitschy slogan they keep in their back pocket when it's convenient versus a priority they really don't care about.

My wish is this company be consistent in something for once. They COVID response has been a mess and it'll continue to be. Treat it like the flu. There is no eradicating it, we will all get it sooner or later.

Returning will only trigger the great resignation (which CVX has somehow been immune to if you ask leadership?) for CVX and further prove, as one poster already stated, that CVX is an archaic dinosaur incapable of keeping up with the times and evolution of the workforce.

I'm in no rush to run back to work for a guy who sees anyone who didn't report onsite during the pandemic as "overhead." And those of you who complained about having to report everyday theast two years, please save it. You were free to go find a new job any time you wanted, just like those who don't want to RTW now are free to go find a new job whenever they want.

Maybe we don’t “hear” about other deaths and illnesses because the media is only interested in reporting COVID. Doesn’t mean there aren’t other deaths and disease based illnesses also happening.

A lot of people die every day of many different causes. There is bound to be one at anyone's workplace. The latest "cause du jour" is Covid. Ever notice that people don't die of much anything else these days when it is disease/illness related? Same approximate number of disease, old age & illness deaths, just now it's always supposedly caused by Covid.

Pretty sure one did just die due to COVID. That makes at least two in the RBU that succumbed (permanently) to COVID

I was seated next to a couple of my democrat coworkers at an event a few months back and they were dutifully wearing masks, though not required, but they had only their mouths covered, and noses exposed. I have seen many democrats wear them like that. I've always wondered what the purpose of that was.

Your commute is entirely your choice, not Chevron's. It can be as short or as long as you make it. I know people who walk, cycle, and take the bus to work. It's up to you.

Covid has been here for 2 years. There has been a lot of contract tracing and guess what not one law suite against any company where Covid was contracted at. This goes for concert halls, restaurants and businesses. So there will not no legal recourse just like those who took the jab will have no recourse on the companies who made the jab. Welcome to the world where these people who say they are protecting you are steeling your money by funding vax that they are forcing you to take ….. not only that they fear mongered you into believing you want to take the vax.

If the vax is so good then you don’t need to worry your protected only the un vaxed will die.

Yes, very good advice, @1uou for competent, ambitious, productive individuals. However, that is not who you are addressing on this forum. You are dealing here with the lower tier bottom feeders, the ones who have no life or even a legitimate internet outlet or chat group besides the layoff.com. Thanks in any case for your invaluable advice.

If you don't want to return to the office, just find another job.
They'll give you an enormous raise and offer better perks anyway.
Chevron is just another large, outdated company.

Covid is a real threat in the office. How will teams operate if there are outbreaks and people calling in sick? The other things people mention are also reasons to not go back to the office including long commutes, extra cost for parking, and other things just to hang out and do water cooler talk. It can be done from home. Those who work out in the field should be commended for their service and given some extra pay but I believe are partially who is trying to push office workers back into the office. You chose that career path and have to work on site. Office workers made different choices and are in a different situation where we can work from home. Rationally its best for to work from home. The snowflakes are the ones refusing a small shot and not wearing a small mask on their face.

All you snowflakes who want to work from mommy’s kitchen forever … should just quit. The covid bogeyman has you quivering in your knickers. Guess what? It’s a tough world out there. If you can’t drag yourself back into it, like most of us already have, go trade meme stocks and post funny emojis on Reddit. While the rest of us get on with life.

Yawn, I vote for a new and more legitimate reason to endorse WFH, or at least a hybrid schedule. The Covid sham has about run it's course. America is pretty much back to work for all intents and purposes. Here's a thought, how 'bout we be honest and stick to the long commutes are horrible, a waste of resources, cost valuable time, and be straight up about it. Enough of the ("cough, cough") I'm deathly afraid of the cold-like symptoms of everything that comes along even though I'm triple vaccinated and masked.

I think that would be an excellent metric to add to executive pay. They tie all kinds of stuff to ours. He would be less cavalier and getting people back otherwise.

Ummm, heart attacks aren’t contagious.

Covid is also not only ‘personal health,’ it’s a public health issue.

And with good contact tracing it would absolutely be possible to trace some cases to the workplace.

If any employee dies from COVID (and many already have!) - 1) it will be impossible to prove how they contracted the virus, 2) it will not be considered a Chevron safety metric anymore than someone having a heart attack on the job. It is personal health. You do it yourself and nobody else. Good luck!

Covid is exempt from workplace recordables.

The government exempted Covid when they gave the vax manufactures immunity from lawsuits.
