On a team call today asked the group what were folks deciding on DirecTV. Only one was going to keep it.

Were putting dish network magnet signs on our vehicles once we leave the yard, and are wearing a dish network T shirt while walking out the door when we are done for the day. Apparently it's gotten around on the net about "T" employees loosing their discount for DirecTV and Dish will be offering a soon to be announced "special discount" to all "T" employees wishing to switch over.

The current plan will be $119/mo with 25% discount. Still cheaper than my cable Company. I plan to use either Hulu or Youtube.

The company comes out ahead by dropping the employees. They spend more than $10/mo paying rights fee's the content providers. ESPN alone is $7.21 per subscriber, $9.06 with ESPN2, ESPNU, and SEC Network.

Retiree, on no discount DTV streaming, canceled yesterday, You Tube TV is my new friend. Saving like $40 month.

I retaliated today by only producing 25% of my mandated ESM/MSOC numbers. Done by 1145, then took a nice nap!

I don't know if you've heard, but AT&T spun off DTV. They are now a separate, standalone company. Yes, AT&T owns a big piece of them (but not all). So AT&T isn't losing any subscribers, DTV is.

"Then again I left in December and they treat retirees like cr@p"

You should try speaking to former employees who retired 5 years ago or longer!

Do the math people - $10/month, even if there were 100,000 employee subscribers - that's only $1M. Drop in the bucket. They would need 1/10th of the current employees to sign up to maintain the same level of income. Chances are they will make more money from employees even if 80% of current employee subscribers drop (which I will!).

I’m disappointed the DTV discount will be going away. I have enjoyed catching up on a lot of series while WFH during the pandemic.

Its a smart business decision by AT&T. Less than 25% of employees who have DTV will cancel. With the price increase, AT&T will more than make up for, and profile from, those cancelations.

I posted back in Oct/Nov it was going to be a discount 25% and people laughed and didn't believe it, yet here it is! I've been a DTV subscriber since 1998! 25% discount as an employee, no way! Ill be cancelling it! not worth it.

This is same logic like buying DTV 6 years ago. Now T owns 70 % of this elephant and still don’t get it. They will run DTV ti the ground until is worthless.

they don't care they apparently got what they wanted from dtv and are now kicking it to the curb.

T is no longer able to subsidize the DTV discount. It can't charge customers $140/month and continue to afford $10-45 monthly subscriptions by employees. The math just doesn't work.

You have evil HR Ratbert Blondie Santone with the Stink making B O N E R decisions. Toxic T still owns 70% of DTV, and all the debt. As usual the Stink S H O O T S Toxic T in the foot and DTV will loose thousands of T employee subscribers. Stink don't care! Why should he?

What does the Stink care? He will get another 8 figure bonus from the BBoD for making such a great business spinoffs and buying high and selling low and keeping all the debt.
