Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Leg-T Contract

Has anyone heard what’s going on with the Leg-T contract? I see they agreed to extend it but I can’t find anything on the CWA voting.

Who cares about your labor contract. The union should be disbanded. Oh, and I agree with other posters about this not being layoff related. Go away!

The CWA agreed to extend the current contract. That's because it takes too much effort to actually fight to get a better contract and pay that matches inflation for their members. As always, the CWA rolls over for management.

You can vote against the contract extension but it won't make a difference - CWA contract votes always seem to pass no matter how many people vote against it.

Inflation is due to the Federal Reserve printing $1.44T per year. It's been carrying on since 2009. Donald Trump wanted the Fed to print so much that interest rates would turn negative. Money printing is the darling of the far Right and far Left. They call it "Modern Monetary Theory", also "quantitative easing". It is the idea that the Fed can endlessly print up a free lunch. Its fans include Donald Trump and AOC.

They print and buy government debt and mortgages and put them onto the books of the Fed. Look at the chart. All those assets were purchased with newly created money.

There is information on this web site.
https://www.cwa7250.org/
There is a summary of the extension, available as a pdf download.
There is also this local's opinion, giving 5 reasons not to vote for the extension.

The issue that sticks out like a sore thumb is pay increases that don't keep up with soaring inflation.

No vote is required for extensions without changes to terms and agreements.

And what does this post have to do with layoffs.

Haven't read a thing on that topic as this site has NOTHING to do with CWA contracts. Ever think of contacting your union steward or the Union website via the Contact Us option for an update? Sheez, is it any wonder why the company is in such disarray?
