Company has the right. That’s all we ever heard when we asked questions.
How did the time claims disappear. Does anyone know? Just seems like they just went away and i never did hear why.
The only part of the contract that’s enforced now is the parts that say what they CAN do to you. Not what they can’t. glad I’m no longer giving them money.
Back in the day when a union contract said they “can’t” do this or that, it meant something and was enforceable with financial penalties guaranteed to be paid for violations. Today? “Can’t” just means its suggested and preferred.
That place is going down the drain. Curry started getting our work in 2011. I'm glad I have 20 plus in, but I was hoping for my full 35.

They can't contract out your work unless your union agrees to it, it's protected in the scope of your work in your agreement, it goes back to the Conrail agreement, which Norfolk agreed to at the takeover, unless your union gave it away, if not your worthless union chairman doesn't want or know how to file an appeal
Well the writing is on the wall. If they outsourced one thing, it won't be long til they do another and finally it is all gone. It is the business model of today. Only hope is the employees are hired by the contractor(s) at a reasonable hourly rate
Chip away…first PAs, AC, and electric shop. Then engines and alts. After that Traction Motors. Middle will be gone, some furloughed, some redistributed to other areas where they’re understaffed. Get through whatever upper managements goal is for OH, and capitals then close the doors…some have 3 months, 6 months while others maybe 11 months.
It doesn't matter what his/her craft is, the fact that they want to see others jobs go away speaks volumes to what kind of person they are. Perfect example of why the unions are just for show anymore. Bad enough there is no support at the international level, but this person's mentality is why the unions at the local level are so weak and ineffective. Sell a different craft person down the river, hoping for some personal gain.
What’s your craft hotshot?
It’s been time for pipefitters and bm to go. Work could be done by other crafts. Sadly the curry scabs will get every back door deal they can get their hands on.
Curry Rail Services is going to take work away from JLS, why do you Don Faulkner is always there, wake up
As a 20+ year guy I look for curry rail services to take over the locomotive capital projects. Matter of time before JLS is just a regular maintenance shop.
Nope. Not happening sunshine
Abolishing pipefitters and boilermakers. Machinist will do it all...
Locomotive production still on schedule as planned.
Darn coffee pots. Thats the real problem right there.
Big sweep of coffee pots and microwaves
Celebration of SAFETY and PRODUCTION. JUNIATA keeping this whole railroad running. Always has, always will.
Management will assure you the shop will not close. Business looks good! More work is coming to JLS!
They never give you a notice of layoffs or callbacks. So it's either COVID mandates , voluntary work rule change or shop closure
Those pair Have a bigger mind than she does.
A true meeting of the minds
