Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

For those on unpaid leave... Did Honeywell set a trap?

The instructions you get forbid you to do any unpaid work while on leave. There are no exceptions in the guidelines I received. We will be asked to certify this if we end up going back.
Since using the Sine App to upload vaccine status would be considered working for Honeywell since the effort is being requested by and fulfilled for Honeywell, how can anyone certify that they have complied? Is this a trap?

Another lovely policy.

Being unethical, but not getting caught, is the unspoken part of The Code.

Yeah, but why not say that in the rules?

I know on furlough you certify that you did not do any work.
It is clearly explained that you can not log onto any company resource.
No company email. Even if you have a company phone you can't use it.
But, I don't think they are trying to trick or trap you.
If they are instructing you to upload your status, do that. And that only.

Well it is an interesting thing. Not sure if Honeywell is being sloppy or what. It sounds like a technical violation of the policy but doesn't seem to be anything Honeywell will pursue. But if things were done to the letter, sending the document is "work" that is being done and you are being asked to certify that you did zero work which is technically not true.

@qqr+1eJtdjOo Sounds like work to me. You didn't do it because you wanted to, you did it to fulfill a demand of the job.

@ygt: No I did not lie. My job title is an engineering position and I didn't do any work related to that position while on medical leave. I simply uploaded documents required by HR at their instructions to the HR website to be able to return to work. It was very simple, HR had no problem with it and I never heard back from them after that.

@gdn+1eJtdjOo So did you lie about not doing any work (uploading the document) while on leave?

Email your boss and HR from your private email asking if you need to upload your card while on unpaid leave or after your return?

I was out on medical leave last year with the same instruction to not perform any unpaid work while on leave. I had to upload documents to the HR website from my doctor giving medical clearance to return to work. Also the document certifying I didn't do any work while on leave. I went back to work and didn't have any problems.

You are very wise to on cautious. I would never put anything past the money mongering beasts that run the big RED H.

There is a federal "de minimus" exception to working a tiny bit "off the clock" meaning that you can do something if it's super quick. If you are legitimately concerned ask for an exemption to upload your vaccine card or written permission to do so.

In past furloughs we were allowed to access the HR site but that was it. If that's all you did, maybe you're ok.
