"I'm looking out for you" and proceeded to stab me in the back.
Lucky to get one a visit a year from him though he visited his "boys" monthly and take them and their families out to supper and drinks most times. Always "too busy" to stop by our "remote site" even though he would have to drive by it on his way to visit the other guys.
Was a constant thing, no matter what manager I had except for the very first one. (thank you oh nameless one)
Just shows you, kiss a-s, have it made. Just do your job to the best of your ability and.......... get nothing.
I would have preferred someone younger in your role
I'm very busy - I will do your HPD assessment at the hotel breakfast buffet
I have no idea who you are but I am writing your HPD assessment and deleting everything your manager of the last 8 years wrote before his RIF
(All 100% true)
I have my favourites, it's OK the night shift worker (a favourite) sleeps on the job, it's a bonus if the contractor turns up before lunch - apparently permanent members of staff only have to work Core hours or inform their workflow co-k of any change in start times. It's OK the contractor literally walks around and around and producing nothing because we would have to get rid of other contractors before them. Honestly the list is endless.
"You must report to a Honeywell facility next month." (I was remote and closest Honeywell site 2 hours away). I told her I'll retire. She said " you can't retired you're only 59 years old".
I had 37 years in. Best decision I ever made.
I remember when they would pontificate idioms ad nauseam:
I still chuckle about Jewels like:
"Think outside the box"
"Do more with less"
"Don't bring me a problem unless you have the answer"
Fun stuff.
Me: I requested a private meeting with you today to tender my resignation and give my two-week notice.
Manager: Can you give me a time line on when your last day will be?
My manager "accidently" revealed that I got the lowest pay in his group, so I have a lot of room to grow. I used to think I am more talented than 90% of them based off the the problems I solved and work I got done compared to them. After that day I keep asking myself: "Why the heck should I keep working harder and be more productive than the guys who makes more than me?" Even the guy started at HW 5 years after me makes more than me?
Life is unfair, but the manager's 'disclosure" destroyed my mood for working hard.
Well the worst he did was phony up my review to justify putting me in the elbow. The stupidest thing he did was to force me to do one of those '360 reviews' or whatever they called that. I had to pick several people to review me. It was strange but not strange. Their reviews lined up with my self-review quite remarkably. The only review out in left field? His review. I've been retired for a few years now. There is life after Honeywell. Just get out and don't look back.
"Work the tasks and projects in parallel"
Forget about the 30% attrition......
Your vacation time is now unlimited, just don't use more hours than you were allotted under the previous vacation policy. No, I won't send this guidance to you in an email.
I treat everyone the same.
You know that's a lie
Would you consider taking a 6 month leave of absence?
Maybe by then you'll want to reconsider retiring.
"Are you sure I can't talk you into staying a little longer?"
Phx Engines transition team. "Your presentation is missing several camas". The problem was, my email was private to her and I was letting her know that a particular site was having quality problems. She had more interest in grammar than content. I've since retired.
Welcome to honeywell.
Anything related to promotions, salary raises, bonuses etc when you transfer to a new team to lure you in. Always promised things when I transferred to a new team and then nothing happens. Happened multiple times trust nobody but yourself.
one time he wanted to remind me that he is the only one that matters after he got jealous that I discussed some technical topic with another manager as I needed some help.
Next day he knew about and, asked me to come and meet him and he said ("I am your boss, keep that in mind, and I am the reason this company is still running and/or making money").
He has such an ego, up to the sky! Until today, am surprised he is not fired. I bet all others are afraid of him.
I was told that to flatten the management structure, the first layer of technical managers had been eliminated. Right after that, they added a layer of senior directors in between director and vice president. So, they got rid of the least expensive layer of management to add in another overpriced layer of management. Somebody's cousins must have needed lofty titles, obscene salaries, and less competence.
"I need you to work at least 4 extra hours (for free) every week so that I can justify filling the two job req's I have open."
It was before I joined Honeywell. The VP of my group told me that he plays poker with peoples' lives.
Mine told a group of us, "My opinion is the only one that matters."
It ended up costing him his job, ultimately, though he never realized it, since it was several months later. I relayed his statement, and the situation that caused it, to a director friend... and the wheels were in motion from that point. Turns out that the opinions of his subject matter experts and his higher-ups mattered at least AS much as his. :)
"We're all in the same boat". I told him he could have my paddle and gave 2 week notice.
I don’t care about your career, that’s your job.
You need to get vaxxed by January 4th
"You're hired"
"We gave you this project not thinking you could get it done, you surprised us".
W T F? You gave it to me thinking I couldn't get it done, you guys tried to intentionally set me up for failure!
Not only did I deliver, but it was above and beyond! F'en A-holes... Luckily they are all retired, fired, and or plain old GONE!
OP: C'mon, take posts like this to Reddit or TicTok. This has nothing to do with Honeyhell and layoffs.
"I told them (leadership) we will bring the project in on-time and under budget."
You're hired!
Please, provide details. I'm in need of a good laugh or an eyeroll today.
