Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Why AT&T Tumbled in 2021, but Is Rebounding in 2022

  • The spinoff of AT&T's media assets has weighed on the telecom's stock.
  • Ma Bell's cutting its dividend in half as a result of the deal did not sit well with income investors.
  • A smaller, more narrowly focused stock is much better for investors -- which the market may be beginning to realize.

DISCA up 16.87% on 1/7/2022. Market is looking forward to them running Warner Media after T failed and let it drift along

The one thing I am not familiar with is whether or not the new media company will pay a dividend. When AT&T acquired Warner, part of the pitch was that the acquisition would be good for the dividend.

Now that the deal with Discovery for Time Warner is a higher probability the market is reacting that Discovery will do a better job running Time Warner and T will be better off focusing on telecom

All telecom stocks went up for no reason. Buy it and watch your money disappear soon.

Stop it, AT&T is not rebounding. It remains the most dyfunctional, most indebted, most over staffed, most wastefull, most hated company in the world. To many employees sitting around the campfire singing kumbyah.

"Why do they keep trying to sweep the $150B debt under the rug?"

Companies don't accentuate large debt bit nor do they hide it. Investors know where to look for the information and it is figured into the price. Also we are paying our principle and interest on the debt and paying it down.

It might be simple ─ the stock could have been oversold and is now pivoting to a more normal equilibrium.

Toxic T is not a buy while the Stink is around. Wall Street just does not get it. Wall Street creeps are more interested in getting more fees out of T from failed mergers than if investors loose their shirts.
