Leave next year and get 2021 bonus from this year

We want to move early next year and do something new.
According to the management compensation plan if I am employed on Dec 31st then I will be eligible for the bonus. But will I get paid? I will leave before the payout.
I’ve seen both yes and no answers but not sure who knows. Anyone done this or know someone who actually did?

Tell your manager to give you a connection award for $5K before you leave. That's the only way you will get a bonus!

If you are employed 12/31 then you did your time and get the company bonus CPI for 2021 for your level. I’d agree with others you wouldn’t expect anything else but since annual individual bonuses are no more not sure what you’d miss.

As an L2, why would I waste any of my limited bonus allocation to anyone leaving the company? Sorry, I will use the bonus allocation to reward my top performers that will return in 2022, none to anyone leaving.

if you just leave on your own you get nothing. If you're in a surplus status situation then you should receive a prorated amount of the bonus described in your compensation package.

I know numerous people that were surplused in July 2020 that received their bonus

The company will not waste bonus money on you. You are gone, they won't spend money giving you a performance bonus. If you get anything, it will not amount to much. They may have liked you, but again, your gone!

Pretty much spot on. Certain SVP claimed that his org already awarded 90% of the recognition awards. And I'm 90% debt free, just don't count my mortgage, car, and credit cards. Is it too much for these as-----s to be competent as-----s, guess so.

CPI is unchanged next year. I assume that is what OP was asking about. I've also heard different answers to this question so I wouldn't say it is weak if you don't know anyone who's done this voluntarily.

IPI got replaced by Connection Award. This was pretty clearly explained in our group. They can be given throughout the year. If you were ranked high enough for IPI before you should be asking about it this year. Awards next year would be a new budget.

“I doubt there will be any bonus, if there is, it will be miniscule. Big bonus goes to top performer in workgroup. This helps with retention of outstanding performers, and you're probably not it.”

Since there is no IPI any longer, this is an incorrect statement. We all just get a group bonus same as everyone else. Spot bonuses are a joke ($50 or $100, really?) How is that retaining top talent if I get the exact same bonus as my counterpart that did not do 1/4th what I did? If I made or saved the company $100m last year and my coworker only did $400k, but we got the same bonus. How is that retaining top performers? Oh I got $250 in spot bonuses vs the $15k IPI I used to get. Right.

Hire a labor attorney and get the company give you in something in writing for enforceable action. Don't listen to anything HR says, they don't work for you.

Weak question that has been answered 1000 times. Yes, you maintain your eligibility for 2021 bonus and will be paid out... and many have confirmed that they were paid out in this same scenario.

I would think it would be direct-deposited in March 2022 when they are normally paid out.

I was surplused in July 2020 and our terms included a pro-rated bonus check (for about seven twelfths of the full amount) and it was direct-deposited in March 2021 when all the others were paid out. By staying till the end of 2021, you've followed their terms.

Now you would not be eligible apparently for any kind of 2022 award (payable in 2023) if you left before the end of 2022 but since you stayed through the end of 2021, you should be eligible to receive the 2021 award.

This site is for harassment and unfortunately there is no HR. If you do stumble upon someone at T that thinks they know be forewarned - they don't.
There is no intelligent life at att and the "Stacy types" that are supposed to know only show up for a paycheck and 5EX.
