Judge Blocks Biden’s COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate for Federal Contractors

Nov 30 (Reuters) – The Biden administration was blocked from enforcing two mandates requiring millions of American workers to get vaccinated against COVID. U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty in Monroe, Louisiana, temporarily blocked the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) from enforcing its vaccine mandate for healthcare workers until the court can resolve legal challenges.

Separately, U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove in Frankfort, Kentucky, blocked the administration from enforcing a regulation that new government contracts must include clauses requiring that contractors’ employees get vaccinated.

The White House declined to comment.

A federal court on Dec. 7 blocked President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors. Georgia and other plaintiffs suing Biden over the mandate “will likely succeed in their claim that the president exceeded the authorization given to him by Congress,” U.S. District Judge R. Stan Baker, a Trump nominee, wrote in a 28-page decision agreeing to enter a preliminary injunction. Baker barred Biden and his administration from enforcing the mandate in any state, an expansion of a Nov. 30 ruling that applied to just three states. The mandate was going to take effect on Jan. 4, 2022, unless it was blocked by the courts. The deadline, originally delayed in November, was initially set for Dec. 8. “Yet another one of President Biden’s vaccine mandates has been temporarily shut down because the states – including Idaho – took a stand against his unprecedented government overreach into Americans’ lives and businesses.” Idaho Gov. Brad Little, a Republican, said in a Dec. 7 statement.

To be fair, the Arizona challenge was filed weeks ago. Honeywell is either unaware of the challenges or lying to us. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/arizona-ag-expands-legal-challenge-to-biden-vaccine-mandates

To be fair, the HR email came out on Monday & the court orders temporarily blocking the mandates were released the day after on Tuesday.

After the email that came out this week I wonder how HR is going to try and spin this turn of events! Will the timeline change or even be suspended in light of the strongly worded ruling?!

Funny that in Hon's HR email sent on Monday, where they were begging people to either get jabbed or apply for exemptions, that they said there were no cases pending that would affect their timing. HR/Legal must have passed the bar exam in Timbuktu...

"Despite any rumors to the contrary, there are no pending legal challenges to the mandate that would affect the timing, and Honeywell intends to fully comply with the Executive Order."
