Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

People...People...People

Scott Mair did it again, people are leaving due to things that can't be controlled in the org.

If you're the #3 guy in the executive rank and can't doing anything different, why even say retaining people is a priority? An ounce of truth mixed in thousands of lies. Good luck with that employee engagement metric.

Despite stock valuation, this company has cash and lots of it. In 2020, the dividend payout was almost $15B. Outside institutional investors, guess who owns and being paid with stocks? Stankey and his cronies, nothing like writing your own paycheck at the cost of the company's future.

On benefits, HR will keep insisting on benchmarks with industry offerings. Next time, ask how are the reductions and eliminations of benefits are competitive? How about if executive pay get reduced to stay competitive? I bet there plenty of CEOs out there that outperforms Stankey and have way less pay.

"The compensation at these other places is 2-3x what I currently make."

This isn't reality for most people, and I suspect it's at least heavily exaggerated here. Especially if you've been here 20 years or more. And I'm not talking about zipperheads with no degrees, certifications, or useful and in demand skills. I know they exist here. I have a degree and various professional certs, and am contacted fairly regularly by recruiters via LinkedIn. I have found the compensation to start just isn't there, though benefits are similar or a little better.

Scott Mair's organization gutted and outsourced most of the technical programmers they had years ago and now wonder why he can't retain the few of those that are left? Leadership is so incompetent.

Oh yea, we promote people outside of Dallas, so opportunities are not limited by location. And this is company claims to be data driven and transparent, what a joke! Just do some simple math on how level 3 and above are in Dallas. If WM stuck around, bet their HQ would've moved to Dallas too, not NYC/Atlanta/Burbank.

We need to take care of our workforce, it’s all about the people.

What about larger than 1% raises? Well, we are looking into that. Next talking point budgets were set in Nov - yeah, that’s a hard no on the raise

Then the conversation about hiring externally and the ad nauseum discussion of TDP which no one gets in. Folks if you don’t see the writing on the wall at this point, then you might as well accept your fate.

I’ll be leaving the company very soon as I finalize 2nd and 3rd interviews with other companies. The compensation at these other places is 2-3x what I currently make. You really need to be a free agent right now. The market is incredible. Good luck to T hiring top talent with their current wages and benefits. They are getting left in the dust.

Scott was told exactly what to say by Stankey. Dont ever think these executives that report directly to Stankey have free range to say what they think.
