Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I have joined Chevron.. IM HAPPY!

I have officially joined Chevron, and yes I am posting on a layoff page to see where I went wrong. I think I am in a good place for the next 15-30 years with Chevron, I believe it's going to do great things for energy in the future, from what I've researched.

Also, this is not an attempt to make any former employees jealous, its a proud accomplishment.

Congratulations. Learn everything you can as soon as you can. Get as much job experience you can. Try to ignore the office politics and stay professional no matter what. The oil business is very volatile, so try to stay out of debt as much as possible. Start preparing for the day when you will no longer have a steady income.

Congrats, you are in a great place for the next 5-10 years. After that, just leave... don't play the dangerous game

Everyone that I know from Chevron still has their job.. going from being there for 1 years to 15-30 years, where are the layoffs taking place?

It's def not in the corporate side.

Your feeling about the great outlook will soon pass. You are correct there may be some decent oil price future ahead but that does not mean good times. Good times and high pay only comes when you are growing and they need people. Just because they are making money doesn’t mean the share.

Look at the difference between chevron and Exxon this explains a lot of the differences between the companies.

Anyways. Glade your happy for a while. Wait a few years hopefully you don’t get caught in the yearly layoff in some part of this company. But always keep in mind you were warned, so you can never complain.

Sorry, I just got happy with the job since it’s very competitive over here where I am to get into!

@src+1dwFxsaB : I’ve did some research and talk to some folks folks inside Chevron and they see a great outlook in the next few years.

Even if I can do this for 5-10 years that works with me.. I just want 6 figures and be happy :)!

I think you may not be frank with us. Have been following news on the future of energy? Have you read layoff reports?
