Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

S&G

Are any other clubs pressuring workers to get scan and go as well as credit and upgrades? That is all we hear on.the radio. Everyone has to get them. Even the gas station attendant and all departments on the floor. Including door greeters. Members are getting angry.

Yes management has to hold people accountable or they don’t have a job. Unfortunately it rolls down hill if you want to stay employed. It’s not because they want a $10,000 bonus it’s the company direction. So your either do it or find a new MIT who thinks they can do better. Don’t get pi---d we are all just trying to provide for our families:

Gm bonuses are like $80000! Not $10000!

Walmart is in the lead and we need to catch up.
Walmart is down to the 4 or 5 manned registers and everything else is self checkout.
To the members it will look like we are fully staffed at the registers all the time with cashiers and it might even bring back the runners. But instead of a runner for each register 1 or 2 runners will be utilized and they (runners) will be expected to keep up with the cashiers so the cashiers numbers stay good.

Tis the bonus season. As someone mentioned. We are almost to November. Our fiscal year STARTS in Feb. So GMs are going to suck all they can from the holiday season to maximize whatever perks they get. But it is also true about getting rid of manned registers. No word yet on when that will take place at our club, just that eventually it will happen. We already lost 1 register for the completely pointless SNG lane and are now down to 5 belted registers. Obviously it didn't go too bad in the test regions if they are still considering rolling it out company wide. The last place I lived, our neighborhood market only had I think 2 belted registers that were barely manned, only if it was busy, the rest was SCO. I personally prefer SCO wherever I go. But that's just me. These are the times, like it or not people will be forced to adapt and not just with Sam's. People want their driverless cars, well you get driverless registers along with it. Restaurants utilize the table top ordering/pay tablets as well. Those have been around for years now. People don't pay attention but it's been happening everywhere. It's not new.

Wow, you are in a tough Market. Ours is 30% plus Scan and Go usage per day in Club, 15 Plus and 15 Credit per day and at least 15 new scan & go. During the challenges it has been expected to have at least 30 and up to 50 Plus and/or Credit. If the Frontend associates, do not produce numbers they are held accountable just like the Membership Representative and the Frontend Manager. If they cannot sell services their days are numbered.

They are pushing scan and go because they will be eliminating cashiers in the very near future and they want members to start learning how to be self sufficient.

Members are already angry about plus and credit. At least SNG they don't have to pay for or run their credit for. But yes. They are pushing scan and go hard. We are expected to get a minimum of 75 NEW sign ups a day. 30 plus and 30 credit a day.
