Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Closed meetings ==> layoffs or payoffs?

Phoenix Managers have been holding closed meetings for several weeks.
That is never good. Rumors. What is coming?
Are they doing another round of retention raises?
Then a new voc survey , surprising after the last disaster.

Its the block rating season again where everyone is given a number depending on your results and behaviours. The old adage of having 5% of a teams population to be rated at an elbow rating as a guideline is where every manager has to put in regardless if the whole team is doing a stellar job. Although its mentioned as a guideline, everyone knows that its a firm guideline to follow or the manager himself would be in the elbow for not being a team player. Its absolute nonsense if you ask me. GE which started this hair brain idea of performance rating an employee during Jack Welch's time, had stopped doing so after realising that it harms moral and ultimately defeating the term 'performance'. Stop this Honeywell and you might learn too soon that employees will start leaving in droves and bringing all its talent with it. HR aren't there to help the employees but rather to trim the herd.

It's that time of the season. The age old ritual of ranking 1 to X. They still do this very archaic process of assigning a number to each of you. They use this for bonuses, raises and retention.

Seems like even they should figure out this isnt a good time to kick people out

Hello people. Did you ever think that when you fill out your religious and medical exemptions. Corporate keeping track of how many people have filed. Which gets forwarded to corporate Arizona.

Now they’re having all these meetings behind closed doors. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what you’re up to.

Honeywell isn’t stupid. They got I have some back up plan. I figured they have a certain percent of the workforce that won’t comply with the vaccination. So that’s what the close meeting are about, I expect major overtime. In order to cover the people who might leave.

Remember how you never had enough workers. After these meetings, your overtime will disappear. Your whole line will be staffed to right amount. Office staff we finally be fully staffed.

Honeywell will tell you. We got a bunch of new contracts. We’re gonna be so busy. Finally agree that you guys are working way too many hours. So we’re going to increase staff in order so you don’t have to work so many extra hours.

Then you’re start training your replacement. You’ll have no problem training your replacement. Because you won’t believe they are your replacement, and since they have Honeywell badges. You will feel comfortable. Because we are one big a-s happy family. Who loves our Kool-Aid.

Then after you are done training. The ones that are not vaccinated. You’ll be put on a five day suspension. Then the rest of us will have to work overtime again.

Like the song. We are family. You goofball loyalty people. You believe anything they tell you. They’ll tell you we’re so busy. We need all these extra people.

When you start working at Honeywell. All you guys who wanna make a name for yourself. In order to fulfill your selfish needs. You will have no trouble helping these new people..

Just remember one thing, the song from Roy Rogers.

Happy trails to me until we meet again, I wasn’t loyal enough. Otherwise I would’ve got my shot. So now I’m out of a job and who cares about tomorrow. When you work at honeywell.
We were so busy. I guess Honeywell was lying. Then we kept on smiling. Until we realize we couldn’t collect unemployment. Because we volunteer quit, over our view points.
Then we finally realize that our lawyers were lying too. In order to collect our money.

So just keep on smiling and hopefully some day. A new company will hire you.

One thing for sure... they have no need for layoffs. My email is full of "last day ...thank you" emails. Mostly key people or folks marked high potential.

Any layoffs are going to be site closures I think.
Footprint consolidation is a key part of dealing with a contracting workforce.

IMHO 3 things

  1. Trying to guess how many won't get shots and how to deal with it.
  2. Back to work plan - so far I only know that WFH is until someday in November, right around the corner.
  3. Revenues and earnings & how will we be able to pull rabbit out of hat next qtr. WS had bad reaction to 3QTR numbers. (although DA will tell us how great we are in Zoom show coming up but that we still need to do more) What and where can we cut.

Probably offering retention raises since many good people with marketable skills are jumping ship (it seems every week I hear of another huge talent lost)!

I lean toward payoffs.
Suspect they will offer money to get vaccinated. But they will either make it a trivial amount paid when you upload (fairness). Or a larger amount when given jab but don’t tell everyone cause it will tick off already vaccinated.

They should be worried. For all the posts saying that few will be impacted the grapevine says differently, particularly in critical production facilities. Wall Street didn't like Honeywell's Q3 numbers and Q4 & Q1 will likely also fall short, so expect the panic, irrational actions, and "beatings" to continue.

Agree. I have been asked at least three times if I was getting vaccinated.

Answer --- I was vaccinated. But I don't want to work for a company that hides behind government proclamations as a reason to take an action. Have the CEO and management stand up and say we are mandating vaccination EVERYWHERE and will no longer do business where government rules prevent that stance.

Show courage...no? Thought so. Cowards hiding behind figure heads.

With the low jab rates at large sites like Clearwater, Olathe Cedar Creek, Botts Road, and Phoenix they are preparing for site disruptions and eventual closures. The writing is on the wall!

I bet it has everything to do with the risk mitigation of the employee liss that is about to happen with the government vaccine mandate
