I’m curious to see how many long time employees (15+ years) are trying to make this a career and retire from the company. I’ve been with Sam’s for 10+ years and it dawned on me that I could make a career out of this. However, is it unheard of or very rare for someone to actually accomplish this?

This company gave me an opportunity when no one did. 2 month I became a lead, 7 month MIT. I'm a fresh manager now. I have only been with the company 2 years come November. Its been a blessing, definitely a career.
Why stay?? There is no pension plan. You’ll leave/retire with whatever you have now and a lifetime membership. Wow, all those years wasted on a company that could careless about your faithfulness.
Been here 30 years. My 401k is growing. My own lack of planning and diligence is the only thing keeping me from retiring now. If I had made full contribution and kept buying stock I could easily have retired by now. But... I did not prepare. in about 5 years I will be able to leave. ...... My advice? If you stay long get into management !! More money and opportunity to prepare to retire.
Good luck on what ever you decide. You could also leave, not go back and go where you are appreciated.
29 years got me. I'm staying for another 2 and then retiring. Overall I have enjoyed working at Sam's. They have been good to me.
I have 18 years in and would like to retire here if possible but who knows? They could do away with my job, close the club, or even fire me if they wanted to. No one knows if they will make it that long to retire. I have never felt safe here.
I am. 25+ years so far.
I’ve seen associates come and go.
