How bad will it get?

Axe Man has spoken twice on this thread alone. Read on.
Axe Man we need you. Please shower us with your pearls of wisdom !!
Well, it is November …
Aye, Caesar, but not passed!
Glad to hear the attrition is high, that means that good people are on their way out. Oracle is a he-l-ho-e, cesspool, rat-infested dump... everyone run for the hills.
I hope that the Ax-Man does not feel the axe!
Ax-Man here, coming to you from the Redwood Shores ghost town of building 500.
No changes to earlier report — no layoffs of any size planned. Only pruning in small numbers. Attrition numbers are ACCELERATING in recent weeks as more and more people who have been around for years are leaving. Just two weeks ago Oracle’s VP of PR left after 15+ years with the company. People are continuing to leave for better pastures and doubling or tripling their salaries in doing so.
The “old Oracle” Ax-Man mentality and need for my services has become largely moot with the pandemic. But when things settle down again, and Oracle revenue and profits decline, no question that Ax services will be needed, and I’ll be around to do the dirty work.
Well, we will find out next week!
“ about employee health, and several post about building my career at Oracle.”
This sort of claptrap infests their career site emails lately. Lipstick on a pig.
LOL safra. What a fugging clown.
Does slack count as a technical skill? Asking for my friend Safra. Hahahahhaah.
They may say they don’t care about attrition, but in the last two days I have heard from my management about employee health, and several post about building my career at Oracle.
They are running scared!
Ax-man - if I had known you were in Irvine I would have dropped by and brought you donuts or something before I quit. Your insight helped me wake up to the reality and I'm better off for it. Thank you!
Attrition is controlled by the resource. It is what it is. Layoffs = company controlled attrition. Just goes to show you how arbitrary all this corporate bs actually is.
Orgs that have not tried to be decent to their employees are going to have a bad time. All your best people are going to be working for your competitors! And they’ll all have incentive to want to beat your @$$ in the marketplace.
With attrition rates, big companies are not bothered with layoffs. They can just play the waiting game for a few more quarters and hope more employees will just leave and not fill them up anymore. This works out cheaper than layoffs.
I wonder just how many are interviewing? My guess is that 1 in 3 are looking!
I would literally add my real name here to get laid off with sev for the holidays. Instead, I’m just gonna keep interviewing since I have an extra 8.5 hrs a day. It’s been funny interviewing. People actually happy to be working where they work and positive about their future. Such a novel concept. For one role I was not picked cause they filled it internally. I wasn’t even mad. I said it speaks to their culture of promoting within which Oracle would hire a external dead person before promoting within.
Should I add Beehive to my resume?
Gaawd, I still have nightmares about Beehive. Lousy product.
Ax-Man here, coming to you from Oracle’s Irvine, CA office on the 405 South.
No layoffs planned of any scale or breadth. Minor layoffs and pruning in several places, including OCI.
Just last week I gleefully “axed” a number of folks from Don Johnson’s SaaS Ops group. Oracle IT (legacy group) is another continuing target. If you had ANYTHING to do with Beehive and you are not already gone, YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED.
But for the vast bulk of Oracle, no layoffs in the near to mid future. No need to — attrition is running three to four times normal (pre-COVID).
Axe Man?
Our numbers have been creeping up. Are we going to see a correction?
Lots of people are calling this “the big one”.
What are you talking about?
