Many of my colleagues think that there still might be layoffs by the end of the year, despite the fact that many people are leaving because of the vaccine mandate and other things. (rumor, not verified information). Is it possible for that to happen?

The touch part people departing due to the vax mandate will cause engineering and management heads to roll when we can’t sell products on time. The 10%”r will turn into a 15-20%’r by the time it is all said and done. Only hope is that a mass of VRIFs offers are given to the near retirees.
I wonder if ALT is spreading the rumor to KEEP people from jumping ship. The only reason I would still be here in February is the hope of severance.

The alt is being told that we are in the early days of a sharp global recession equivalent to 2008. They believe that supply chain issues will choke buying and confidence enough to completely reverse current pinflation pressure.. this will keep new investment into our products below 2019 levels. guidance has been set to keep raises at the 2 to 2.3 percent range (below inflation) because of this analysis.. no big bonuses and no immediate move to replace census beyond the absolute minimum needed for revcog commitments.
Org right sizing is expected through natural attrition. Footprint reduction is only just restarting so that should be okay for a while.
Out with the old - higher paid, experienced people and in with the new - younger, contract, less experienced lower paid people. And just keep beating the mule. You still have to make it happen, figure it out. The Honeywell way.

Anything is possible but it seems like they have too many positions open right now, plus they are planning to lose heads in early Dec. They will wait until Jan for any RIF action, HON management is not brave enough to hand out pink slips in late Dec.
