Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Open enrollment

Must be saving money by getting a website that doesn’t work. Got far enough to know that costs are going up.

The one site that does work is the Q&A ask the experts site for asking benefit questions. It works so well that they remove questions from it that they don't like.

Not aware of any Fortune 500 company cutting out healthcare. Comparing notes with the uilding security guard on healthcare plans and his is much better than T's.

it's the frog in the p-t analogy, they have slowly turned up the heat over 20 or so years and we dont see just how little our dollar buys today from say 2000.

1-2% raises, health care up from free to really unusable...this means most of us at T have gone backwards in salary and quality of life while C-suite is taken care of.

Only way to stay ahead is to leave and take a new job with a big increase .

That's a pretty big cut to your benefits. Are you sure ATT is going to stay in business?

Basically AT&T is offering a catastrophic care policy that costs a lot of money. One ER visit for appendicitis or a car crash and you hit the deductible quickly. Have surgery or stay in the hospital a few days and you approach the max out of pocket. There is no single thing more expensive than medical treatment and will put you in bankruptcy quicker without insurance. That's all you really get from AT&T's medical plans. Find a doctor that discounts for cash on the spot for an office visit and you can save some money for things like a sinus infection.

Unlike a previous poster, my advise is to max out the HSA and don't spend it until you are either retired or have something major go wrong. It's triple tax advantaged. You never know when you are eating when you are going to bust a tooth and need an implant. You'll be glad you have that $5k sitting there in the HSA.

It's also not surprising that in their "what's new this year?" they don't mention that even the cheapest bronze employee only option now has fees associated with it, that the out of pocket max's have increased, and that the benefits decreased. Many warned me to make sure my doctor and dentist is still in plan.

But on the good news side, they DID announce that a recent change was a new ground rounds app. I'm so grateful for THAT highlight in our benefits. I will sleep so much better now.

The lowest vision plan used to get you eyeglasses/contacts and a 2nd pair every other year now gets you a benefit of $100 in network ($0 out of network) with a 30% copay. Hopefully they'll publish a list of in network providers so we can all go there.

I hear that retirees were also slammed with big increases.

“AT&T still has the least expensive health care of all companies our size.“

It is impossible to make this statement without knowing the details of the plans these companies you mentioned are offering their employees. Like anything, you get what you pay for.

Contribute to the HSA for the day to day medical stuff. AT&T is competitive when it comes to health care coving those in a major health event. Just wait until AT&T announces the $200-$250 surcharge for those non- vaccinated folks. You don't want the jag, then you will pay.

They are kicking in $3600 for HSA. It’s fine with me. Fam and I rarely get sick. Healthcare sucks everywhere and it’s just getting worse.
Stay healthy, take your vitamins, exercise, eat your veggies. It’s really all you can do at this point to avoid ridiculous expenses.

TO: @1jcu+1dnCH9Jz You are one paranoid and mentally unstable little fellow with all your outbursts based on your fantasy world. Seek psychiatric help! It can't hurt someone like you.

It was obvious the new benefits would be more expensive given the course Stankey and Santone are on to reduce every employee cost then explain them as necessary, logical and fair

I noticed on one of the plans the cost from Blue Cross went up yet the part AT&T contributed only went up by 1 CENT. They passed pretty much the entire cost on to us to pay. Thanks that will go great with the 1% raise.

The out of pocket costs for health insurance plans offered by T are outrageous. Anyone who thinks otherwise has not done their homework. I hope you never need to use the health insurance at T, it will surely bankrupt you.

" AT&T still has the least expensive health care of all companies our size."

Listen, Mrs. Santone, that is just false. I've been on my spouse's large employer's medical insurance for years, precisely because this isn't true at all. And the difference is significant. And they don't charge their employees an extra $150 bucks a month just because I have access to this subpar high deductible high premium sh--e offered here.

I believe they are making this process more difficult intentionally. I don't need BOTS. I don't need over produced videos. I don't need all of this BS just to push me toward choosing the cheapest high deductible high premium health insurance plan for the company. Just take me right to how much my contribution is increasing for what I have. That's all I need to know. Thanks

going to the ICU for 20 something days and racking up 400k bills

yeah we need to keep the ICUs empty and available for all the people who ate or smoked or drank or dr-gged themselves there. but not for covid people. if you wrecked yourself, that's fine. but it's not if you caught a communicable disease (possibly from a vaxxed person). and of course the 400k charge is not a problem. we all know there's no price gouging going on in healthcare. totally get the point. right.

Insurance will become unobtainable as the unvaccinated keep going to the ICU for 20 something days and racking up 400k bills. Raise that groups insurance and leave the vaccinated alone

$6000 deductible & 70% coverage after that

You can be sure Stankey and his gang don't have that kind of insurance. Ironic that rich people who can afford the deductibles and co-payments and such don't have to pay them, but the people without that kind of money do. You'd think it would be the other way around. Maybe people should start thinking about "social justice" in that context.

Insurance for management employees sucks and has for several years now. Don’t tell me to be thankful for a $6000 deductible & 70% coverage after that. It’s just not good.

Leadership has to raise costs given how many sudden medical exemptions for the vaccine were recently filed. Too many employees are documenting medical issues.

I talked with contacts at, Raytheon, Goodyear, Caterpillar and Royal Caribbean, their benefit costs are going up more than ours. AT&T still has the least expensive health care of all companies our size.

Name one large employer that has eliminated health care insurance.
