Vacation changes for 2022

Anyone heard of any vacation/time off changes coming next year? Friend on another team/org said they heard it’s changing again.

The only change I want to hear about is getting my tenured additional week back. One can dream…

Unlimited is for people who don't get vaccinated. You get unlimited time off with no pay.

In a nutshell Maximum of two weeks accrual, no compensation for unused time, no more than door weeks can be taken in any 12 months period. Any time scheduled over accrued time will result in disciplinary action, it is up to you to keep track of scheduled time. Most roles are required to be on 48 hour call during scheduled time.

The funny thing is that a couple of people here mentioned Unlimited as a question, it is not on the table but people are running here are with it.

Newer employee……if you take more vacation than you have now you will get FMPd when that rolls around again because they will deem that you contribute less. It’s a trap. If you don’t end up taking less you will be out. This is not a gift. T does not give more.

That's all newer employees think about, more time off. No pension, worthless, expensive healthcare benefits, all other once valued benefits gone. All they care about is more time off! Gotta love it.

As a newer employee, I like the new program. It will allow me to take additional weeks off as needed.

Unlimited unpaid maybe, but not many will be doing that. I can’t remember the last time I took unpaid time off.

Unlimited will create more paperwork for the layers management to keep tabs on their people and how many days off they had accrued over the year. I wouldn't be surprise if it is true, right inline with how this company operates, create work with no value and frustrates everyone involved. Stankey will claim another progressive step towards awesomeness.

What happens when everyone decides to vacation in April, May July, September, November, and December? Not everyone can be off at the same time!

That’s one way to stop us 20+ folks from being mad about the week they took away from us, I guess.

studies show that employees take less vacation when they have unlimited vacation vs. a managed set of days like what ATT does now. Unlimited is a catch 22, if your a high performer and your able to get your work done, take a vacation. Just because you have unlimited vacation does not excuse you from deliverables and timelines. It's a quick way to move people out the door if they are not able to manage their work load.

Could someone explain what "unlimited vacation" is? Is it unlimited no penalty/no pay? Very confusing.

Maybe the Stink can go on unlimited vacation - and never show up again. Good riddance!

If they make the mistake of offering unlimited vacation - I outta here until I retire. The count-down clock is ticking...

This is very prototypical lots of people leave and those who stay will have to absorb their work. The unlimited vacation is an easy way to rid anyone they don't like as they can load you with impossible amounts of work and calls so if you take some time off you will never catch up and be let go

I am sure The Stink and HR Blondie have all kinds of take aways waiting for us. He loves announcing them in December. Merry Christmas! T has to be competitive with the companies in India that we hand over all the work to.
