Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Here's how AT&T really saves money

Grant employees millions of stock options and require that they hold them for 3 years before they can be exercised.
I don't know anyone that ever made a dime off options unless of course your an executive and the options are/were repriced.
Take away all benefits including health care and concessions.

I got options over a few years. This is going back over 20 years, as I recall, only one of the stock options grants vested and had value.
Seems like 300 shares, in my pocket was about $15,000. Not bad, but the Black Scholes estimates sure made me feel like a rich man. Turns out, I was only T-Man

L3 and above get Long Term Incentive awards of shares that aren't options. They get exercised at the price on Jan 30 and half is paid in cash and half in stock (after tax withholding is taken out)

Ditto, I was ripped off with these stock options too. This was part of my compensation for excellent performance. Never received a dollar!

Most L3 and above get Performance Shares and/or Restricted Stock Units - not stock options that sometimes are worthless - that pay quarterly dividends and can be cashed out upon vesting. L3s get average 50K to 60K in Performance or Restricted Stock Units per year.

I held options for 3 years that became worthless when I was laid off which then had to expired. T as an investment is a joke.

My stock option given instead of a bonus was for $45 a share. The price exceeded that for 3 days, resulting in a $540 bonus if I noticed in 3 days. I did not notice in time. But with 4 weeks vacation I did not want to start over. Yes, still unhappy about the loss.
