Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

So...is USB finally hanging on to their experienced work force in the wake of nationwide hiring woes?

No activity on this site in the infamous first weeks of October tells me that USB TOS is hurting from all the outsourcing and annual cuts of experienced technical workers. This latest debacle acquisition probably has everyone left there, working 60 hour weeks and wishing they could escape. TOS management has always counted on being able to fill in with contract workers but it seems there are countless jobs listed for open positions everywhere. What's the scuttlebut? Anyone have inside information?

When they force Shannon Levang into retirement, then the workforce can be in peace.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. I agree with your assessment and appreciate the confirmation. Those people waiting for their "packages" are probably out of luck as you suggest. While I had no intension of retiring last year when they eliminated my position, I found myself unable to find a position that did not require me to get technical certifications I had no real interest in acquiring. I still receive listings but most are for desktop services for which I've no experience or desire to learn. If I were a young mother these days, I would certainly weigh the value of my salary vs all the time away, cost of day-care and overall stress of being a working mother. Unless you earn enough to afford help at home, it isn't worth the hassle. I think a lot of people have figured that out and they are opting to change their lifestyles accordingly. Women in particular are finding out that slogging through the early childhood years in order to have an unbroken career record isn't worth the trade off for themselves and their families. Good for them! Corporations don't care about the people who work for them and they never will. Maybe the fact that people are no longer willing to work for less than a living wage and others are demanding salaries commensurate with their productivity value will shift the paradigm in the right direction.

We are in a new paradigm and not limited to any company. This is an employee-driven market and there is a Great Resignation, Great Reassessment, and Great Reset going on in people's personal lives.

The reality is this whole "layoff" thing may be as dead as a minimum wage job, people are quitting and looking for new jobs and new directions. So from a company point of view, we seeing more people outright resigning and retiring right now. If the company is going to do any, they are doing attrition but not mass layoffs - why pay out severance when lots of people are quitting?

Two people with negative reactions but nothing to say. As I am no longer there and have not heard from anyone I used to work with; I'm trying to find out what is going on. Why give my comment a thumbs down if you don't have the ba--s to make a statement?
