Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is there any reason why anyone would advise me to take ATT PPO?

I’m still a little undecided whether to take it or not.

Highly doubt that all the benefit cutbacks will do anything toward saving T. Can you imagine trying to recover from $150B in debt. Cutting bennies to save money at T is like fighting a forest fire with a garden hose.

" Stankey has already cost me $125K with the loss of my MetLife insurance policy. It went from $140K to $15K as of 01/01/2022."

Well, you COULD keel over before end of year, and keep that....

Seriously, the retirees kvetching about their supplemental life insurance...enough already.

Stankey wants all eligible retirees to opt for the T PPO. The reason? It saves T money. Not my problem, no one forced him into running T in the ditch. With debt at 150B, it's not likely T will ever be even close to debt free. Stankey has already cost me $125K with the loss of my MetLife insurance policy. It went from $140K to $15K as of 01/01/2022. This was an earned benefit that just vaporized, what a joke. May Stankey and Santone B* in he, fricken thieves.

How can anyone advise you? Have you had Medicare for more than a year? Preexisting conditions? Health services used last year? Eligible for Tricare? Eligible for an HRA?

It's a nice plan depending on the situation. If my cost was $1057.56 instead of the loss of a $2400 HRA (I keep the dental HRA of $300) the offer would be more compelling.

Under certain circumstances, it might be a good plan regardless of the HRA aspect. It is a low deductible plan with coverage that matches a good Medigap plan. Price Medigap.

I didn't read 2022 as the last year. From the letter sent to the Union:
The experience within the Exchange plans has been positive and we are able to keep your HRA crediting amounts through 2023.
I read that as lasting to the end of 2023. So, I think that 2022 is the second to last year.

Um.......no! Enjoy your last year of HRA. Next year you will be forced to T PPO, then you can remember the good old days of HRA!

If HRA eligible, a retiree loses $2400 to participate. The retiree hangs on to $300 for dental and vision coverage.
The HRA eligible spouse loses $1300, but hangs on to $200 dental. Plus the spouse pays $1057.56.
So, the costs for HRA eligible people are around $2400.
Unsubsidized retirees and spouse pay 1057.56 each.
Everybody pays for Medicare part B separately which is looking like $158.50×12=$1902.

The PPO contains a low maximum out-of-pocket for medical. There is also a clause on page 28 indicating a pharmacy max out-of-pocket of $6500, which doesn't seem to jibe with information on page 27.

As a subsidized retiree, and given my health situation, the PPO at $2400 isn't worth it. The HRA contains provisions to reimburse out-of-pocket pharmacy up to $100,000 once a threshhold of $5000 is reached.

So, I went $0 Medicare Advantage with a $10000 out-of-pocket, but has dental and vision. I use the HRA for Medicare Part B and out of pocket.

Your choice but If you are married the $4,200 stipend with an Aon Advantage plan will more than cover Part B premiums (~$3000 annually) plus prescription dr-g plan premiums and you should still have funds left over to cover Co-Pays.

The PPO plan does not provide any money to cover Part B premiums plus you also pay $1,000 just to get into the plan.

Just ask other eligible retirees what plan they are on.
