Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

No strike?

The union said they fought. They did, but it appears as though they stopped. Once impasse was reached the next move should’ve been the picket line.

When you bargained away your right to strike you ceased being a union. Just a social club now.

There is no mandate to be read until OSHA issues one, despite the people who want to segue this into politics. AT&T started this in August, before Biden said anything.

President Joe Biden took his COVID-19 vaccine requirement policy on the road Thursday, despite his administration's delay in rolling out the new rule for both the federal government workforce and staff of private companies with 100-plus employees.

The idea that there is a mandate around is a fairytale from the fact-free crowd. At this point, there is a proposed mandate, which started after AT&T had announced its vaccination policy.

OSHA is expected to issue the rule in October. Then watch the lawsuits proliferate.

@ubt. Read the Biden mandate, it CLEARLY states jab OR test, NOT vaccinate or terminate

Ask your supervisor or call HR like you always do. The DA stating about OSHA is clueless. Fed labor law rules the day Perry Mason

unions are just tools of the corporations now they don't care about the employees and you are disillusion if you think they do.

@wun
If you read the message they sent out to union employees, they put they are doing this in LINE WITH BIDENS POLICY... they put that in writing and that's WHY HE IS MENTIONED. again, they claim its IN LINE with his policy... so they have to deal with them claiming that and only giving partial options.

".. the Biden mandate ALLOWS TESTING"
Repeating, there is no Biden mandate applicable to private corporations until OSHA issues one. Last I heard, OSHA is still in their comment period.

This vaccine mandate is wholly an AT&T policy.

So, I tried to make a main post and it seems the moderators didn’t want it up ! But my gist is … I’ve decided I’m leaving ! This company is showing with this that they feel they OWN you ! Not that it’s a mutual agreement l between each other that I give them my time in exchange for their money! Guys , keep our bodily autonomy ! It’s PRICELESS ! I have already begun business training to go independent! It IS OPTIONS OUT HERE GUYS ! We simply never knew because we didn’t look before now! Good luck everyone. DONT BE BULLIED! The injection is FOREVER , this job is NOT!

Give the company more reasons to hire contractor labor... working yourself out of a job by being organized in a right to work state.

i say our best bet is to file a suit AGAINST THEM NOT ALLOWING WEEKLY TESTING. We have a great chance of winning that, because they have NO REASON outside of " cause we didnt want to offer it" ... the Biden mandate ALLOWS TESTING. so they cant say it was due to that.

Who would go on the picket line? The contract hasn't expired, so is a strike permissible under the terms of the contract? If the contract contains "no-strke" provisions, striking employees can be immediately dismissed.

Anyway, they would need to take a vote to authorize a strike - doubt that vote would win.

There is only one way to fight this that I can see, and at the least, the Union bought the time to do so. And that is to challenge the "approved" status of the Pfizer vaccine. It looks like that was done for legal reasons, instead of scientific or medical reasons, and that was to take away the legal defense that a vaccine mandate requires employees to take an experimental vaccine.

The Biden plan will pay more if you get fired than if you get the shot and work.
So why work?

We the people will have to strike together.ourselves. We have nothing to lose. The union itself however is confined by certain laws … we aren’t though .
