2nd shift so much?

What are the responsibilities of 2nd shift? Most paper and water are delivered during the day so our receivers end up stocking the water and merchandisers stock paper. Our back room associates unload at least one DC, meat and produce, water, paper, li---r wine beer tires EVERYTHING and lately the freezer/cooler! All the mixed freight gets worked by day merchandisers as does the freezers and about 70 pallets of whatever the 2nd shift drops. This company needs to go back to having a 3rd shift!

Been like that FOREVER. It’s the blame game. PM versus AM. Happens in Bakery. Happens in Produce. Happens in Meat. Happens everywhere.

Long story short, it's sounds like the EXACT same story for EVERYONE...but with positions reversed...for...everyone. It's the PM shift. It's the AM shift. It's the PM shift. It's the AM shift.

Our PM backroom associates feel over worked if they have a DC and F/C truck . They don’t do claims, any paperwork.. they can’t even put their own paperwork together .. heaven forbid they do a plastic bale. Most of the time they don’t sweep at the end of their shift … if ups or FedEx deliver after 1st shift leaves, they don’t do it…I would love for them to trade shifts for a week with us on the day side … they would run back to pm shift so fast ! The pm merchandisers are responsible for stocking paper … which most of the time they leave empty cause they are too lazy to drop the pallets until a member complains because they saw a pallet of northern in the steel and none out !

no one is talking about PM having to accomplish ridiculous recovery standards,,, two nights ago after 11:30 the guy who recovered hardlines was called out over the radio because 1 single mouse was not straight in the box !... this is insane !...

In my club AM is responsible for electronics, HBA, clothing, seasonal and hardlines. PM is responsible for grocery, snacks and candy. Both shifts help out freezer cooler when needed. Each shift drops their own stuff too.

I've worked both PM and AM and let me tell you, the PM has a bigger work load than AM in my club. Currently PM backroom and we leave at least an hour late every night, sometimes 2. The AM merchandisers leave on time, without fail, no matter what needs finishing. The AM backroom associates leave early, Every. Single. Day. Yeah they unload most of the Vendor trucks, but they hardly ever run or stock them. So I routinely come into a dock already mostly full. There will be holes on the salesfloor, but they refuse to fill them a majority of the time. Example: Tuesday, Dock had GP, Members Mark Paper, Nestle, Pepsi and a DC waiting on the dock. 75% of the items could've been stocked out immediately. I had to unload 2 DC's too, so the dock was packed by the end of the night. I admittedly leave claims for the AM to a sometimes, bc I figured they had the extra time on their hands with leaving early and all. We also get blamed for everything. Pallet not scanned in, must be the PM; OYI not correct, PM; Mixed pallets not broken down, PM; it's infuriating. I know not clubs are the same, but that's how it is at mine.

To all the PMers, don't listen to these PMS'ers. Not one of them is willing to trade their morning cake shift for an evening shift. Not a single one.

the am crew may unload the trucks but in my experience its the pm crew thay clears the dock and slots the freight. ive been a pm backroom associate for 6 months now and have only left at my scheduled 1130 end time maybe twice..i unload the dcs and then have a forklift driver help clear the soda paper and mclane frieght that comes in. as far as claims the front end doesnt bring them back until after 830 which is when we start rushing to get dock cleared so we can possibly get out before 1am.

Coke trucks, Pepsi trucks, Dr Pepper trucks, Nestle Pure Life Trucks, Member’s Mark water trucks, Ozarka water trucks, beer trucks, wine trucks, Member’s Mark paper trucks, Procter & Gamble trucks, Georgia Pacific trucks, Serta mattress trucks, three McLane trucks each week with candy & cigarettes, Produce and Meat trucks, FedEx, UPS and everything else under the sun done by AM crew. Water, paper and sodas end up being stocked by AM Backroom half the time. Other than maybe two or three dry DCs that are done by AM crew the PM crew unloads most DCs. PM crew leaves TONS of damages for AM crew to have to deal with. They also never touch Claims.

Not sure what they do but they sure do leave a mess for me to clean up in the am. Temps haven’t been done on frozen dairy since July lol. Also management hasn’t had evening back room associate trained on claims yet but it’s only been 2 1/2 years. I’m sure they will at some point. All jokes aside I blame it on management not the pm associates.
