Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

The genius Aero bonus plan

So the geniuses put out a "Q4 incentive plan" today (over halfway through the quarter) to try to get us to work through our vacation and holidays in order to meet milestones. Just another instance of poor planning and forgetting that they overload the holiday calendar at the end of the year instead of spreading out the days like everyone else so Surprise! milestones won't be met unless they convince everyone to work extra. And of course they wait until Thanksgiving eve eve to announce the program and structure it so poorly that only a few will be able to participate.

True to form, the program is only for select REVCOGS programs, so for the incentive to really be incentivizing it only applies to those who only work the chosen REVCOGS programs so that if you spend any time working any other programs those hours don't count and it will be difficult to achieve the bonus tiers. And if you don't work REVCOGS at all, sorry, no bonus for you.

Good job Honeywell management, you really know how to make a bonus program completely ineffective!

Then they aren't also figuring in that everyone who's planning to be fired because of the Vax mandate needs to use all of the vacation and holiday hours they can. Sorry, you'll need to up the bonus much higher if you're firing me Jan 4 I'm not giving up my vacation/holidays.

Q1 they are going to be in a world of hurt after they fire the unvaxxed and all of the people d-mb enough to work the incentive program take their deferred days off. But who cares about next quarter's milestones?

Brah, English! Use it

Sounding like a 5th grader isn’t helping your case.

It makes some sense that Honeywell-related unions are pricy as the work/employee is probably more “valuable” than the grocery store employee (value here by salary, not personal worthiness).

It would be helpful if folks would reveal if they are exempt or nonexempt.
Many nonexempt people complain about having to work overtime but don't mention that they are being paid time and a half for it.
Aren't most represented (union) employees nonexempt?
And most exempt folks not represented?

@6lyu
The missed the world typical.
In fact, the average US union due is $400 annually. Your is expensive then irs poorly managed, or you are getting other perks

As for a firing, I don't care. Are you being forced to work free overtime?
Is you salary/mip/benefits being cut?
That's what we are talking about here.

Typical union dues are less than $500 a year. Fact

False work at Minneapolis ISC. On my check for yearly total.

It reads: Union Dues IBT - $745.65 for current year. Monthly dues are $67.93.

When you add December of 2021. Your total for the year would $813.58.

Not under $500.00 dollars. You will pay a extra $313.58 dollars more.

Stop listening to the recruiters of the unions. 1145 union is famous for taking the company side.

We had a meeting with union. Under the bylaws, you have a right to a union representing you. When they call you into the office. The sole purpose of your rep. There are only there to listen and be a witness to what management is saying.

They really can’t do anything. Then they told us in the meeting. The company is going to do whatever they want to do anyway. There’s not much we can do about it. Except put a grievance in and hope that they take you back. If for some reason they fire you, unions are a joke.

Facts - Bottom line! If for some reason they fire you, or take some action against you. Your union rep is the only one who can put a grievance in. You are not allowed to. They choose what cases are going to fight. Awesome union representation.

Stop listening to the union recruiting staff. This is how they’re going to represent you.

Whoever told you under $500 for union dues. Lying to you. Also when you get a pay raise. Your union dues go up. Where do you come ahead. I guess at one time Honeywell had a great union. Until union was paid off by the company. All they wanna do is get on the union board. So they get double pay, in order to retire better off than you.

That's a small price to pay for your overtime pay.

You are falling into an absolutism trap. You assume anything union is bad, and nothing good can come from one. That makes you a defeatist. That means you don't see yourself with any worth. A perfect company lap dog that is mentally caged into submission.
I hope you don't have children that you have to explain your lack of spine to.

The reason why jobs get sent over seas is because corporate enterprise is fundamentally un-democratic. That means the employee has zero say in the following:

  • - What product or service is made
  • - How its produced
  • - Who produces it
  • - What is done with the profits.

The voting power to affect the above rests almost entirely with the board of directors which is generally 12 - 15 people. Those people in turn are voted onto the board by major shareholders (typically individuals or financial institutions worth billions). There is no patriotism among these people as their only concern the rate of return on their investment. Their loyalty begins and ends with their bank account, not yours. If they can find a way to do the work cheaper overseas, they will.

If you disagree with jobs being sent overseas then your issue is with greedy shareholder capitalism. Wall street calls the shots, you don't. The same billionaires who benefit from cheap labor overseas are also the major donors for political campaigns so it should be no surprise that politicians, regardless of party affiliation, are almost entirely useless in this regard.

Things need to change but it will only happen if people band together and rise up to force change. Collectively workers have power to make demands. Individually they don't. It's simple math.

You need a real hobby. Two really good reasons not to have unions:

  1. They long ago outlived their usefulness when they became an excuse to send your job to China with Gassin' Joe Biden's blessings.
  2. Jimmy Hoffa and Jimmy Hoffa, Jr. and all the corrupt Dems that are in bed with the unions and have for more than a century.

@1hur is absolutely correct. Do you really think they will add vacation time to your non accrued vacation time for next year? They can make your pile of vacation time infinitely big. What do you think the answer will be when you ask for approval? Your vacation time is mythical. Oh sorry, I meant unlimited.

Because it makes me feel really, really cool when I call someone co---e, so I can sit at the cool kids table. It makes feel so much cooler than calling someone a stinky bu-t booger head.

Someone should have reminded them that when you have unlimited vacation, deferring it to next year is meaningless.

Unions are worthless. They don't give you anything but the illusion that you get to keep your job and get better benefits. You pay through the nose for the fantasy.

This is a trick. Remember they took away any guaranteed vacation. Does anyone really think if you give up 4 weeks this year, that after you take it as make up next year that your manager will give you anymore vacation time?

They just keep giving us more reasons to leave and never look back.

What about those of us who have been working OT all year and hardly taken any vacation at all because we are so short staffed? This is zero deal for me at all. I am so swamped there’s no way I can take all my vacation next year as it is. (Only took a fraction this year.) Not only could I not take the extra 4 weeks I would get with this “deal”, but who is going to work my project while I am off working revcog until the end of this year?

This annoyed me so much, at least now I am not going to worry about my milestones I was working so hard to make - just going to take my vacation and holidays and not work more free OT and just look for another job in that time.

It’s amazing to me they are so out of touch, they think anyone who has experience has time to dedicate the rest of the year to another program. Do they not get that every engineer I know in Aero is swamped because of the attrition due to the horrible exec decisions?

I think I will just enjoy the holidays with my family as planned. Might be different if we were talking about an after tax 100k bonus for working the rest of the year. Sometimes time away from the stress and grind is worth more than the money.

Haha! You're fired if you don't take the jab!! Also, please do us a favor and work extra hours and don't enjoy your paid time off...Yeah I really want to help you clowns after the way we've been treated. Tell Karen and the rest of the HR gestapo to work your Revcogs. We already deserve a bonus for working all year putting up with cr-p!
