Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

People still do care about their job

I don't visit this forum often, but whenever I come and read some posts, it seems to me that the posts are written by people who don't care about their jobs at all, and I don't think that's the case.
Sam's is among the worst places to work, but still I see people all around me trying to keep the job as long as possible and really putting in a lot of effort. Perhaps I'm not right, perhaps people here really don't care about their job, whatever it is?

Recently we've been short staffed and of course you guessed it! The assisting managers hire anyone who can fill out an application. Let me tell you I've never met so many "adults" that absolutely do not care about their jobs. But every once in a while, you will get someone who cares and actually takes pride in their job. As a TL it gives me hope that not everyone that I put time and energy into training will be gone in a month. I personally take pride in my work and realize with hard work and effort comes opportunity. I wish more of my generation would realizes that. There's so much entitlement these days.

Even though I am not happy with the management in our club, I go to work everyday, don't call in and do what is requested of me. I enjoy my members who return week after week and many of my co-workers are great. It is the management and some of the inept team leads who make the job unbearable at times. I take pride in my the work I do and feel confident that I earn my pay everyday.

Fortunately some of us still have personal pride and were brought up this way. Nowadays it's few and far between

I care about my job and I enjoy what I am doing What I don't enjoy are the awful people who are in management positions who do nothing for the associates. When our top manager came on board 3 or so years back, we all thought he was a breath of fresh air. Well that air has become very stagnant and stale as he hardly ever shows his face on the floor. The best advice we ever got was from our departing PTC gal. She warned us never to go to him with any concerns, because he will put a target on your back. How sad it that? Many have learned that he is not to be trusted. So do I care about my job? Why yes I do, I just don't care for the management.
