Took the craft buyout in 2020. Rode UE for 15 months , then cashed in on my extensive fiber background. 43 1/2 years, almost 20 in fiber ….this company excitedly gobbled me up and made a generous offer. Hated working at the MOST pimpy company ever(where’s your cones, work boots, etc.). But ATT employment has launched me into a 2nd career as a manager….a position I would have never taken at the sinking ship!! Lots of opportunity out there folks!! GO FOR IT!

66 with over 3 decades with T and don’t see retirement in the near future. I earned my seniority and don’t have to make room for anyone! Good pay, easy job and can still perform at a high level, so why retire!
Retire already so someone younger, who is apparently sitting on their a-s waiting instead of busting it to prove they deserve it, can have your job. That's the way it was done for us "oldies". NOT! If someone wants to work and can do the job well enough, have at it! I'm pretty sure if they can't cut it, they don't keep paying them just to keep the young kiddos waiting at the door.
Congrats? What are you fishing for? An award for sucking the gov te-t?
The older generation need to make room for the younger generation
Wow that right there really captures a feeling of entitlement. Everyone needs to just get out of your way because you're oh so special haha
30 yrs in Business Services, age 50, I could care less about Prem techs moving up, I don’t even speak to Prem techs, wish they would get rid of the title. Anyways, I will work here as long as I can.
congrats. I am thinking about taking a similar offer to go back. Show me the money!!
A older generation worker need not make his decision to retire based on a young prem tech trying to move up. When I started none of the old-timers did that for me…..seniority has always ruled make your decisions on what’s best for you not anybody else!
example number one why att is in the shape they are in.
Know of several people who have taken the craft buyout and are now working in a different role. No wonder this company is hemorrhaging debt.
43 years but only 62! 😜 working to 66. ARGUS project is a nationwide government fiber project. They virtually can NOT find enough people….so I’m displacing NO one!! To each his own!! 20/10 schedule gives me 10 days off a month. It’s a sweet deal.
I'm eligible for full social security, but would rather work than file for it! The job is way too easy and the pay very good! I refuse to retire when it's basically money for nothing! Perhaps, there will be a severance package offered next year?
“ I’m a mid-career employee so I have no dog in this fight BUT ifyou have over 43 years with the company, you should just retire.
The older generation need to make room for the younger generation, no different than when it was done to make room for you.
If you want to work, go to Wal-Mart and be a greeter.”
I never have and never will make work place or life changing retirement decisions based on how it will affect the lives of those workers behind me. Believe me, your financial and security circumstances never enter my mind when I consider the future of my career.
You believing that you are important enough to have a place in my decisions shows your arrogance.
Go back to being a prem tech and say thank you.
Seniority is only "unfair" to those who lack it.
somebody has to finance a widows retirement.
Make room?
Really?
In the 80's no one retired to "make room."
Why don't you quit to make room and open a job up for someone with 2 or 3 years?
Stop picking prime vacation weeks to make some room.
Start working Saturdays and do your part for the Jr folks.
Pass the OT on to them and any training.
That's not how it works. It never has, and never will.
You use your seniority, and I'll use mine.
No one ever said I wish I had worked more when times up reconsider that decision and spend that time enjoying your family and your own hobbies the fiber installation will happen regardless cheers

All day golfing or partial day at the d*ath star. Uh, that's a big no from me. Carry on.
Me too, I love the abuse! Thank you sir! May I have another!
Good for you. Congrats! There IS life after ATT, a better life than you can imagine
