Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

1500 vs 1400

Which building is better? 1400 is much taller an feels better built and sophisticated. 1500 is all chrome hat and no cattle. It was cheaply built and poorly finished.

@1pfi, Maybe your badge won’t get you past the 3rd floor, but mine and other coworkers I’ve shown the place to have no problem going to the top floor and into the Exec bathrooms. Go troll somewhere else.

1400 was lavishly finished and used as HQ for a company briefly billed as "The Greatest Company On Earth", the 7th most valuable company by market cap at one point.

1500, on the other hand, was delivered to Chevron as an empty shell who furnished it in the cheapest, blandest fashion possible. And it shows.

@1xcs, This is the only area of the site, but some employees like to use it as their online teenage-type chat forum, since they have no other social outlet nor friends and just learned to use the internet since WFH started.

I heard that there was an area of this site, the layoff.com, for discussion about layoffs. I can't seem to find it, does anyone have a link to that part of the site?

@1wke Both buildings were fitted out by CVX. Stop trolling.

1400 has the finer executive bathrooms than the ones at 1500. I’d often head over to the C-Suite offices atop 1400 Smith on my work Friday when most of the Execs are off. I’ll spend a good hour or more on the gem-encrusted and gold plated throne of a toilet in the corner stall. It’s a replica of the one commissioned by CEO Ken Derr that was in our old HQ offices on Market St in San Francisco. That story should tell you how long I’ve been around.

1500 was fitted out by Chevron so much, much cheaper materials used. It’s pretty ugly.

I am neutral on this, I would love working a hybrid schedule (may 2 days in the office and 3 at home), I tend to get distracted

Home office is better and more productive.

I got stuck in an elevator in 1500 for about 3hrs once. Then again, elevators in 1400 also trapped me. I'm gonna say elevators don't like me.

Just remember that both have ghosts from the Enron days!

Just took my first role @ 1500 and I'm not impressed. The coordidoors feel tighter, the windows seem smaller and have cheap blinds instead of roller-shades. Also, the top floor conference rooms are much nicer over in 1400.

The benefit of 1500 though is convenient access to the refurbished 2nd floor lobby + big cafeteria.

I prefer 1400. Seems like most of upper management do as well, just look at who is on the upper floors (45-48).

1400 is much better built, except the elevators that “fall” to the roof and never ending electrical problems. Plus the vent repairs that have just begun and the foundation …. other than that …

1500 is nice. But 1400 has better scenery. Not great scenery compared to the other companies but the best we have to offer.

I think 1400 has a cafeteria and gym! And I think the pretty people are there like me!
