Would that be the people who invented the telephone, cellular, the internet, television, radio, computers, the record player, CDs, DVDs, airplanes, batteries, internal combustion engines, and 99% of all the other things that make your life worth living? Be cautious. Sidelining the old white guard also mean sidelining the most inventive and productive people in the history of the world.

With the increase in work from home and remote learning for schools the need for reliable high quality broadband service to each and every home has never been greater. T fell behind while they tried their hand at content over delivery. They have realized their mistakes and shifted back to delivery. The company has adapted and the workforce will adapt. With age comes opinions and most longtime employees become bitter and callous. I’m not sure why, most have done well and will retire comfortably. It may be the loss of identity when leaving a decades long career. The company will be fine. Fiber is being deployed and the workforce is being trained. Lighten up.

The majority of our remaining labor force have no external validation or real world marketable skills. Thats what keeps them here, hoping for the best and utterly unprepared for a modern workforce. Hiding behind a union and mandates and tiny pensions and delusions of security and relevance. Kinda like a aging pr-------e has no choice but to endure whatever pi-p daddy deems fit. This is the best they can do.

I'm the OP. I'm also mid-fifties and white as can be.
I'm not scared of younger browner competition. I welcome it as it makes me push myself.
I never expected employment for life doing a cake job getting paid over market wages.
I left T twice voluntarily. Because, well...that should be obvious.
And while all the diversity stuff can be over the top, some amount is necessary as there is way too much racism especially out in the field. Just look at this board...
