There is a 6:1 Needs to Avails for EMIT. Pretty rough since they will only allow about a dozen hires in the US and it seems there is a strong push from Management to reduce the number of people in the US in favor of growing the GBC's (Brazil, Hungary, Argentina, etc). Unfortunately, the hiring in the GBC's is not going very well and cannot really stay above their attrition rates, which will lead to the inevitable...(can you guess?) Not to mention the folks in some of the GBC's see the writing on the wall and are getting out while they have lots of options. I hear large portions of the key technical talent in some GBC's are all looking for other opportunities and will leave in the near term. I fully expect the business to take over EMIT and start actually making decisions. The sooner the better for ExxonMobil as a whole, otherwise, it will wreak havoc and have significant negative consequences on the business's ability to operate. EMIT management are lost and quite clearly incapable of managing this situation. Clearly evidenced by their Hawaiian Shirt days and silly trinkets being doled out to attempt to curry favor with employee's in the GBC's. Not sure there is really a way out of this short of firing most of the existing managers, because they are not leaders. The previous EMIT VP should have done what he threatened and dumped our useless L2's.
I wish the best to those that can see this happening and are taking steps to protect themselves now. For those considering joining ExxonMobil IT, please rethink this and find another career option. ExxonMobil is NOT what is used to be, even just 5 years ago. I left a short while ago and still have plenty of contacts in the company providing clear insights globally. It has become quite toxic, leadership are unable to articulate a clear path forward meaning they are doing little but manage, and all of the good people have either already left, or they are already well on the path to upgrade their career with another company. Prospects are many, and let me tell you, all of the "cube" photos are a drop in the bucket compared to the number of people in the queue to depart.
Don't be caught holding the bag. The grass is much greener on the other side away from ExxonMobil IT: no toxicity, you are valued, leadership actually leads, career prospects exist, training is actually a thing and you are encouraged to build marketable skills. I could go on, but really, you need to be the "hotshot" they say you are, take control of your life and stop letting leaderless management waste your life. Oh, and the pay is way better!
Happy Holidays and I hope this helps even just one of you see the light and take the steps to move on...you and your family will be much better off for it.
