It’s hard to leave retail

This is not my first job in the retail industry, but I hope it is my last. I desperately want to get out of here, but since I don’t think it’s much better anywhere, I’d most like to find something outside of this industry. I guess I'm not the only one. It's just that it seems a little hard to do so?

Follow the training info that comes out in your state. My state is now starting to offer more programs that you can do for free. Pharmacy tech, regular IT tech, nursing assistant, customer service to name a few. You have to look around though and contact your employment office. These are entry level jobs but they give you a springboard to more. You have to take the initiative though to find these opportunities.

There are a lot of jobs outside of retail willing to train. All of the trades have apprenticeships and are desperate for help. A couple examples air conditioning and heating, electrical, plumbing, building. Check with different unions some are paying you while training.
Good luck you can get out, I did.

Take some courses and training at your local community college or technical school to get some training for a new career. The health care field is in high demand as an example.
