Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Are many employees announcing retirement or leaving by the end of the year?

I am hearing of employees leaving in November because of the benefit changes, so I'm wondering what you are hearing in your organizations and teams? I suspect the number will be higher than the upper management expected. Also, I suspect there will be layoffs in the beginning of the new year if those magic numbers are not reached.

“ The next 30 days will see the last rush of people leaving. They need to be off payroll by December 1 to keep their medical benefits. ”

No. Off by 12/31.

The next 30 days will see the last rush of people leaving. They need to be off payroll by December 1 to keep their medical benefits. To be off payroll by dec 1 they will have to submit their resignation by mid November, but they would be smart to do earlier than that. If HR gets overwhelmed, it could “accidentally” push some one over the December 1 date.

The business is cutting its strategy to only selling internet and wireless service. Our technology is so far behind that we are only able to support AT&T branded phones through the 3G turndown. Subscribers are leaving because they don't trust us anymore.

T-Mobile offers wireless home internet for $50/month. Taxes and fees included. At that price point, what kind of pension and vacation package do you think is sustainable?

I've seen a couple of comments referring to pension changes at the end of the year. Is this the thing where the rates change or is there something else going on?

On today's Town Hall my orgs head honcho talked for an hour about how to get the 500 vacancy filled by the Stink's pension takeaways. Going on and on about college hires until the HR person mention that he best stop as T could be sued for discrimination those comments.

Went on and on about how the vacation takeaway from older employees which were given to new hires will make them come in droves and fill all those openings. F'cken M O R O N S. They don't get it that if the Stink did not do the takeaways they would not have these issues.

They don't get that no one out of college will come to the toxic environment created by the Ratty and now the Stink.

Mo--ns suggest that T officers go to college campuses and do recruitment. Yeah, sending these mo--n out will show how d-mb the T mismanagement truly is.

So go on to Linked-in and send your job ads to people you think are qualified. Yeah, that'll work!

And when all else fails, you can give the job to someone in India where the unemployment problem is a big problem. T has many, many more green cards to hand out. Their words, not mine.

T is doomed.

My AVP just got me a six-figure retention bonus to stay until 2024 and I meet rule of 75 in 2025. I’m not going anywhere! AT&T all the way baby!

OK. Word of the the day is "apocryphal".

being that T is just a Broadband & Wireless company now...we can afford to have people leave. Some estimates have headcount needing to be cut by 60K to stay competitive with the competition. Fat and happy days are over.

The next purge is going to be with the sale of the non FTTP wire centers. Why do you think they have been backfilling plus have added to the headcount? The latest buyers of wireline have been mutual fund groups. They want a business that has the personal in place upon transfer.

They are hiring replacements in Mexico. They are happy to see U.S. citizens leave.

"Teams"
hahahahahaha...
It's not a"team".
It's a job.
You collaborate too much.
They laugh at you.

My organization seems to be around 20% (among many long tenured employees).
I disagree with your theory re: layoffs immediately following in the first quarter. They are actively backfilling these positions, even those that haven't left yet.

At the recent Town Hall, it was announced that my org is loosing 5% of all management folks for sure from the survey they took. More are still on the fence.

On another, 500 being hired to replace them - most going to India.

Way to go Stink! Getting rid of US employees as you care more about the critical unemployment issue in India - all while lining your pocket you P O S!
