Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Why do you feel like you're wasting your time here?

Many who leave complain that they have wasted their time here.
By lost time I mean a time when I haven’t learned anything new. I have been here for a little over a year and I have tried to gain as much experience as I could. I just hope that in the end it doesn't turn out to be insufficient and that I would've learned a lot more in some other company.

DXC UK is a toxic dumpster fire.
If you join, you'll be put in a rat bin of bitter, competitive, stab you in the back, steal your job colleagues where the atmosphere is the equivalent of "Fresh Fish" in Shawshank Redumption

Why was my time there wasted?

I was recruited to lead a new practice team. On my first day, the guy who recruited me had been sacked - his replacement didn't know I was arriving. No-one knew where to place me. This wouldn't usually be a problem, I can carve out my own niche in most organisations - but not DXC. I was told "you're going to client 'x' to head up the BI implementation team", not remotely what I was recruited for, but something I could do. When I got to the client, there was no 'BI Implementation team', just me... That lasted until a huge round of WFR annoyed the client so much that they threw DXC out for non-delivery.

It got worse from there. No control over what I did, just shoved from one client to the next on unsuitable engagements. Just as I started to network with people, they'd get laid off and I'd have to start building my network again.

It remains the only organization I've ever worked for where I had no control over my assignments, no control over my clients, and no personal development at all.

Ultimately I quit and went elsewhere. Sad, because I'd had big hopes that Mikey 2 would turn things around but it seems he can't.

No point here doing more than your contractual hours - even if you do; you find people take credit for your work and at same time you find yourself being at firing end of jealousy, hatred, narrow mindedness by fellow colleagues - followed by final WFR.

As quick as possible leave DXC and get a more well paid job for company that values you and invests in you - sadly this is not DXC

Some area's there is a lot of DXC paid for training , but were not given company time to take it. If you want to do it after hours then go for it, me after working my 40 - 50 and sometimes a lot more hours, I am done with computer and storage stuff.

My last 15 years wasn't a waste , I met a lot of wonderful people (via working from home) and some real a$$-holes. Some fantastic technical managers and so without a clue.

Not a waste because I got paid each and every 2 weeks. If your young you don't want to stay because the company doesn't have a clue. How can you be in digital transformation for year after year and then try to sell that we can help other companies do it.

If your older , above 60 then ride it out till retirement if you can, because who wants to be on-call , work weekends and tons of hours again. Did that too many times already and I am done. I used to work the crazy hours, but you can't pay me enough to do that again, no one is died because a application was down.

Supposedly we're changing to a services company, but we keep buying servers, networking and storage gear.
