Bezos buys Amazon's competitors with growth alignment, like Whole Foods. As much as you think T is an awesome company, it is no competitive threat to Amazon.
Bezos buying CNN? just a way to write off part of his wealth. He knows WP is a cr-p heap and with newspapers loosing readers he knows there is no growth there. he also knows CNN is loosing "eyeballs" so its all about writing off loosing investments to lower his taxes. also to stave off the pitchforks as the loony left MAY let him live if they take over. what he seems to forget is the loony left will not spare anyone who make a buck more than they do. the rich is fodder for their destruction, he will NOT be spared.
Bezos is thinking about buying CNN not all of AT&T. He would just be taking more control of the media so he could push his ideas beyond the Washington Post.
