Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

When will the layoff and furlough anger die off?

Ten years of furloughs, layoffs, and many, many site closures have left the Honeywell work force battered, bruised, and angry. That anger fuels this site and drove me out of Honeywell ( Redmond site closure) even when offered many incentives to relocate. When will the anger end? I didn’t realize how much it was impacting me until the day after I left.

Not until the HON stock symbol is gone from the face of the earth!

The real sad reality with HW, in order to build a great company, you need to take care of your people, especially in an industry like aero where processes are steeped in deep knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, the greed of Sr leaders drives them to cut cost to put cash in their own pockets and the easy way to do that is take from their labor pool in a variety of ways like benefits, cut high tenure employees that have all the knowledge, close sites down and consolidate, eliminate 401k sharing, merits, etc.....need I say more. Having been a director at this company and working way to close to the decision makers like MM, TM...you kinda feel a bit greasy after awhile. And you wonder why this site is so active and the brand is continuing to decline. The current leaders have demonstrated that they only care about the here and now and not the future....get rich and the future will be handled by someone else.

It's been in decline for some time, the one thing we know.....the future is what you make it. Software.....is the future. All the layoffs and plant closures are cost cutting because the company is unable to mange anything linked to material and people, so they are taking the easy road to make money and why they are eliminating fixed costs at such a fast rate. Honeywells inefficiencies and poor leadership have shaped the future and they see software as the easy way to make money.

Exactly what happened with the last spin off where hon loaded the spinoff with debts, and now at least one of the 3 spin offs are in bankruptcy and lawsuits

Expect more of the same.

You still here. I am still here. Basically, when no one left to lay-off.

The company is General Electric. The shareholders have no idea. Why they’re always making a profit and getting paid dividends. By cutting everything they can. Reducing staff and then selling off everything they can.

When they finally spin off the company, or sell it. It will not survive because in such bad shape. Nobody, will want to work for them anymore. Customers are irritated with poor quality. Late deliveries and major recalls. Potential customers will not want to do business with them anymore. Once you receive a bad reputation it’s all over folks. Just look at Resideo, they are eventually going to have to file for bankruptcy protection.

Don’t worry! They will buy into some other businesses. Like making us into a software industrial business. Then the same process of milking new business dry will begin. They have a proven track record. Gut business. In order to get every dollar out of it. When there’s no money money squeeze out of them. Then spin off or sell it Then move on to another business. Start the process all over.

Sad life of working for Honeywell. Formally known as AlliedSignal.

OP, what is your actual point? Are you picking on employees and ex-employees for being angry or on the company for running roughshod over them to make them so angry?

OP: Not knowing how long you worked at Honeywell the actual timeframe is more like almost 20 years. The CEO at the time (D.C., a previous GE exec) that took over Honeywell in 2002 implemented the ideology that @eug+1cz6eHgx referred to in a previous post. The guy also sent tens of thousands Honeywell jobs from the US to other countries called "emerging regions".

And it still continues with the current CEO. I don't see the anger ending anytime soon.

As long as management continues to abuse employees via the GE inspired nine block 'decimation' system (i.e. roughly 10% deemed underperforming slackers) the anger will never end. Why would it? As long as the 'chuck the older workers' age discrimination continues the anger won't end. Honeywell is a dysfunction system or family. When you were a kid you couldn't run away from home. Now that you are an adult you can run as far away from Honeywell as you can. As the character in the play once said "feet, don't fail me now".
