Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

CNE is a startup?

So the new CNE business is trying to act like a startup while having a selection team for each position in each layer? Selection teams and layers are the antithesis of startups. Unless it's another startup that's destined to fail.

Interesting to see who will be selected for the CNE L2 roles. Will JG go with diversity candidates or folks who can actually get work done? If the latter, I can think of a couple of folks who would be high likely.

Given Chevron's 'fast follower' culture, the only way CNE can accomplish anything is to buy out some hidden pearl out there (i.e., just as Chevron Technology Ventures under BB has been trying to do without any commercial success for what? 20 years now?). Given that CNE is staffed with all oil industry people, the likelihood that they will identify some 'pearl' out there is just about zero.

I’d rather take the package than work for that vp. He’s such a buffoon.

CNE = PR
Maybe CVX’s CNE and OXY’s Low Carbon (Lost Capital) Ventures should form a JV 😆

CNE is all for show for the green crowd and Wall St. About as much will develop from it as we've seen from Chevron New Ventures - nothing but a money pit, but it sounds 'trendy' to have it. As someone else stated, if you run it with the same old oil crowd and pampered high pots, nothing will come of it. This should have been staffed with people outside the industry.

Don't make sense to try to run it with oil people. Nobody they have selected or will select has any relevant experiense.

quite challenging as it will be a low barrier of entry business compared to oil and gas

Try to assume some positive intent. I imagine they are going to have some internal and some external L2. They have to do a selection process. And it has to be similar to the selection group in the FAQ since candidates could come from all segments.
