Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Risk Management

Far from the finish line and yet improving overall risk management is being impacted by insufficient recruiting resources. Talent dropping left and right we can’t fill roles. Not only is everything around us unsustainable due to fte count (and lack of controls) but we can’t meet our commitments as is.

Where are the regulators? Asleep at the wheel?

I am in an area of Op-risk, good team, works hard, a manager that totally gets it, actually identifies risk, write great controls at least tries to bring value. CCE - NH absolute joke, EBCE total joke, IRM - ORBO - BACOs complete joke... two different strategy orgs that are totally redundant. All newcomers from JPM complaining this is not how JPM does it even though everything implemented is from majority JPM teams. FYI, there is large team in India and they do need some coaching but they work circles around most stateside teams. Did not even mention the control relationship managers who know absolutely nothing about risk management. Chaos. if the regulators come in and see this implementation they will be utterly shocked, but maybe not, how bad it is today. CCE is a complete and total joke, said it twice now. NH looking at you.

I worked at WF in two different risk areas. One area was incredibly productive and was somewhat respected (this was 5 - 6 years ago). They brought in two B of A'ers (a two-level up and a senior leader) that completely transformed a working area of risk at the bank that is now ridiculed and has zero influence. The other area I worked in, I had a two-level up that has been at WF for over 10 years and is stuck performing ridiculous steps for identifying risks because that's the way she's always done it. More concerned about spreadsheet formatting than actual risk.

They are hiring big time in India. Recently saw an org chart on which I observed some team have couple of more FTE in India compared to team in the U.S. I am not sure if this is expected or folks on this board have observed similar thing at other organizations.

When regulators come it will be easy to find the gaps. Too many cooks. Doing the right things in the wrong way for the sake of diversity.

I bailed on the risk group a few months back. Hated it. Switched to a different area.

Only gonna get worse! Count me out. This place needs all hands on deck and most are finding new jobs or not focused here. Not my problem!

Are you kidding? Corporate risk is by far the most bloated area of wells. It is an absolute joke.

Charlie needs to cut it in half
