Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What do people think about management at Aero Olathe Kansas site?

I’d like to hear everyone’s opinions.
How bad it is?
Etc.
Thanks

The management as a whole in this company is horrible no matter where you go. Learn what you can and take those skills somewhere else.

1csvbbZU I don't know all the ins and out of their salary progression but i do know it's based on hours worked (AKA experience, OJT ) and also meeting their continuing education requirements. They are expected to take so many hrs of classroom education especially during apprenticeship. Journeymen also have annual class requirement and testing to ensure they are up to speed on everchanging state/federal requirements. Additionally my grand son attends community college part time ( payed for by union) taking EE focused classes. HTH. I know unions by all means are not always great but in some trades and geo area they are excellent. I suspect you would be lucky to find many electricians here in Phx making much more that half of the OR. Washington area.

So is MadDog still coming to Olathe?
If so, it it about selling Aero off?

Ask your son or grandson if they get any raises or financial rewards or time off based on merit., or the absolutely unfair basis of seniority. Who cares if they put their time in, if they are lazy and worthless???

1csvbbZU you know little of what you speak. My son lives in Oregon and is a journeyman electrician. Makes $54. per hour has outstanding medical ins and a very generous pension. They work 4 10s and Fridays are optional. At $80+ per hour he works several Fridays a month brining in $125K + per year. One of my grandsons is a 21 YO apprentice making about $35 per hrs same benefits as my son's and he bought his first home a couple months ago. Nuff said.

If it isn't sold first, the only hope for Cedar Creek is to unionize.

Olathe is that horrible place to work? R&O was used to be very quiet & low profile. Must be resulted after Wichita merged.

Is there a firm date when MM is scheduled to visit?

Isn't this site poised to be transitioned to another facility outside of the states? I heard it was and there are already plans in motion to see that Olathe may no longer see too many good days ahead.

HR is pretty nonexistent there since working remote. Only there when it’s RIF time. 😂

I’ve been at Olathe for 4 years , management has gotten worse so has quality. The only thing that matters is the shop gets out their 205 daily commits out.
Employees are really not valued or helped along a solid career path that would make a employee to want
to stay and retire there. I’m sure it’s widespread at every location. Not to mention a socialist approach-if one group can’t get their daily commits ,it causes the other groups to have to take up the slack. The supervisors go psycho crazy and use poor decision making cause they are all afraid of the site leader.

I have worked at Honeywell for 30+ years and Olathe leadership isn’t any different than the other 4 shops I have been at. All site leaders are under the g-n to make their numbers from Corporate each one has their own management style. Olathe isn’t as bad as the posts on here suggest.

@pto: Posts are usually always removed off when they gave the full name of a person like the previous one did. It gets into the Content Rules in the yellow bar at the bottom of the page. It's best to just use their initials like you are doing.

SK can't even spell leadership let alone demonstrate it. Funny that posts are being pulled off of this site related to SK. Worked for him and had to leave my favorite job in customer ops because he is such poor leader. Customers couldn't even listen to the guy, zero people skills, but you can guess why he got the role....he's just like Maddog. Oh yeah, he ran away from Olathe when they were planned to be closed and now back since he thinks they are safe.....great leader that runs from adversity.

SK knows how to make people pack up and quit. Bulky and can be a abusive little man too

Ever since Project Odyssey consolidated Renton & Wichita with Cedar Creek in 2019, and Captain Ahab-SK took the rudder, things took a drastic turn for the worst. In short, Ahab-SK is a micromanaging, sociopathic bully who would sell his own mother for a few grand bonus.

Not surprisingly, most of the remaining (decent) management jumped ship for other ports within HW & beyond within the first year. Many of those left are Mini-Me types of Ahab-SK. Since word got out, they can't even find anyone to fill supervisor slots -- some even backed out of accepted offers once they found out about Ahab-SK.

Now, with mandatory 25% OT, promotions being canceled, and a toxic work environment, the rats continue to jump ship faster than they can find temps to man the bilge pumps. Believe me, most of the recent temps have no education or experience in electronics, let alone aviation. Last time I looked, there were upwards of 40 unfilled job reqs listed for Olathe.

As if all that wasn't bad enough, the scuttlebutt is that Mad Dog is coming for an inspection and once any backlog is worked down, Cedar Creek will be sold & off-shored. Ahab-SK is just trying to keep the Pequod afloat long enough for Moby Di-k to return and finish it off.

Olathe isn't Managed in Kansas, it's managed in Phoenix Arizona along with the rest of Honeywell Aerospace. Duh!
