Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WFC is doomed

Hi,

In tech. Worked hard and accepted another offer today. Better pay and better environment. So glad that I will be putting in 2 weeks notice tomorrow. There is hope. Market is really good. Get out for your own sanity. This place is doomed.

Good luck!

@3eek+1cqoQe01 Yes. Is that bad. They can't even figure out how to get some folks off Office2013 products. They couldn't figure out how to open USB ports for a peripheral device that WF owns. They have no real plan for how they will be moving everyone to VDI. Ask them about the WFA back office systems (i.e. BETA). It's a tangled weave of piling sheyat on top of sheyat that will take years to unravel, much less advancing us in to this current century. All they will do is try to pile more sheyat on top if the pile it is already. Heck, they can't get the data moved from the BCP server back to the original server after the fire that happened in 2019! So, critical systems are on the back-up server still and no one can answer what happens if that server is impacted. Guessing they are hoping cloud happens first. Huge sheyat show.

@3eek+1cqoQe01 a guy hired to head up tech resigned after 6 months and went back to his old job at UBS. What do you think?

I've been talking to WF about an IT Executive Leader role in Philly working on cloud native strategy? Are things really that bad?

The Agile magic wand including doubling the meetings and added controls are pie in the sky thinking that accomplishes nothing but more bloated processes and 1000s of Agile coaches and contractors.

if someone wanted to start their career here in tech, would it be that bad?

I wouldn't say Wells is doomed, but that vision from Saul is pretty blue sky IMO and some of the blueprint/strategy work won't even be done for a few years.

Good luck executing on an API first, cloud native, etc. strategy when there's so much technical debt and assuming some of these technologies will solve all our problems. The data lake and data strategy execution was a complete joke. We can't even get some fundamentals right let alone transform the whole technology landscape.

Depends on which market.

Here it is all entry level jobs or more advanced jobs where Ihave no actual hands on experience due to the severe silo mentality that has plagued WFC.

I know product A really well. Product B and C on the job description are related to product A, but because of the silo mentality, I have never directly worked with product B and C. Sorry.. you don't have the skills we are looking for.

@xly why are you still hanging around here if you were able to escape? Get a hobby.
