Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I'm going to a company that actually wants me to work there, unlike this one!

I've spent nearly a decade here. Why, I do not know!? I came before the sales practices scandal erupted, have seen the roller coasters of changes, merry go round of leadership, cost cutting, billions in fines levied and paid, congressional scrutiny and heated hearings, going remote (at decision of LOB leadership) because of space costs/concerns then being told we're going back to the office again during a raging pandemic with Delta and Lambda variants.

It's been a circus of changes with no stability or consistency at all. Decisions made with no regard to how it impacts team members. Because former leadership, the fake accounts scandal and many other mess ups that resulted in billions in fines and embarrassment, we're now told as lower level employees to be cost conscious, be mindful of costs, don't ask for anything, just shut up and work. I even raised concerns a few years ago to a former manager who didn't care what I had to say but just curtly interjected and said "get on the bus and if you don't like it, get off it." Mind you, I was also told by this same manager I am really good at what I do and do good work - that doesn't matter at all in the corporate world. If I had ever responded to one of my directs like that, I would of gotten coaching, not my manager though. I've noticed there are a lot of double standards.

So I'm getting off this bus, for good! I've helped push it for years, when it was broke, when it needed people pushing it. It doesn't matter - nobody cares! You're just a cog in the wheel on the bus and it will run your azz over and not even brake when it hits you.

Then, the overall message from the new guard is we just need to cut/reduce expenses. Employees are expenses, not assets. It's a paradigm. People walk on eggshells on Thursdays wondering if they're getting cut in another round of layoffs. It's pretty sad.

It won't be long and I will look at this place in the rear view mirror and try to forget about it all. But its been a real rough ride for myself and many others. I'm ready for the next new book and new chapter.

After about 8 months, if the company to which you've gone treats you well, let us know the name. There is a long list of companies begging for good employees now and will say anything to entice people away from their current employers.

I recently did the same after almost 20 years with WF and while it is true that no company is perfect, I can say from experience that there are SIGNIFICANTLY better companies out there that will treat their employees SIGNIFICANTLY better than WF does.

Wells Fargo is a joke, but if you think you're going to some corporation that will magically treat like a real person, you're going to continue to fall into this same trap and be taken advantage of at the new job too.

Employees have always been both assets and liabilities. It's the truth no matter what kind of lipstick you wanna slap on it. Some people worry about what is essentially pointless PR way to much.

"Employees are expenses, not assets."

This is the problem, in a nutshell. Best of luck in your search!
