The best career and life advice: get out on your terms, not theirs. Run. It is only going to get worse, not better. The culture, the chaos, etc.
Don't wring your hands and fret and worry, take action, control and power back and determine your career trajectory before Chainsaw does.
I've quit a handful of jobs without getting severance because I had a better job lined up.
You don't have to be unhappy, either, it's called managing your career.
I know that may not apply to everyone.
FYI, I quit some time ago, just stop by on the 3rd Thursday to see if I have an old friends who need a reference.
I don’t take the article as someone pushing you out leaving without severance but the realty is the bank is only worried about their reputation not yours . Layoffs, branch closures , and performance and not your devotion, loyalty or respect for the company, you are only a number easily replaced. Not worth getting sick over. They still have plenty of baggage to fix
I’ve always subscribed to the belief that I have my next job before I quit my current one, but in this corporate culture that we work in, sometimes that is not possible. Waiting for that parachute on the way out the door is preferred, but will the opportunity be there then?
The more often the axe falls in the coming days and weeks, the more competition there will be in the job market. Choose wisely. Sometimes when you reach for it all, you get 2 fists of nothing.
The issue is that 'respect for myself' isn't linked to any one response. For others that could mean staying. I love my job and work with great people. In any event, good luck with your new gig.
I agree with the OP. Nothing good happening here for the employees, unfortunately. I don’t want my future to be determined by anyone other than me.
Additionally- I used to be proud of the high degree of service and excellence provided by my department to our Financial Advisors and clients. Now it’s only about cutting costs and lowering standards.
Personally, I want to be part of something that is lifting people up, not dragging people down. Life is too short.
Why would you quit and not get severance? Unless you have a great opportunity elsewhere or absolutely hate where you're at it would be silly.
No trojan horse here. I resigned because I have more respect for myself and my dignity than to be screwed around and treated like shi!.,

Yeah, it's amazing how often people post things here directing people to do EXACTLY what Charles wants people to do (leave without severance) and people lap it up like they are "sticking it to the man". People are free to do what they want, and if your situation is horrible, sure, take off, but recognize that a large % of these posts are almost certainly a trojan horse job to convince people to leave $ on the table.
