Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

It's not worth it anymore

The pay here is not worth the time we give to them any longer. We haven’t had a decent raise in a long time, inflation is just starting to go up and our dollar no longer spends the same. Short on manpower, stuck on 12 hour shifts per PSR playbook and given more responsibilities without more pay. No one has ever said on there death bed “wish I would’ve spent more time at work”.

Well said, @vyr+1cnf7KS5.

The pay wasn’t worth it 7 years ago when I quit.

Good thing, they all but shuttered Jenks.

I was making a little over $30/hr when I left. Now I make just under $50/hr. And they wonder why they can’t attract good people.

I’m treated like a responsible adult, I work M-F day shift, I have a lot of vacation, sick, and personal time, and I can peruse my cell phone at my leisure. I also have a company funded pension.

There’s much better jobs out there.

Exactly. Maybe a couple of die-hard workaholics but the majority of us don't want that.

This is so true. Especially the short on manpower part.

Why anyone still works in the railroad industry is a mystery. Either you are masochistic or don’t think you have other options.
