Had my mid year review. I was rated as "meets" in EVERY catagory, but my final rating was "inconsistently meets".
What's strange is that it's written down - right there in the review - that I do indeed "MEET" every catagory that they ask for. 100%.
When I asked my manager how it is possible that I can "meet" every metric, and yet still be graded as "inconsistently meets" at the end of the day, his response was "we have to grade on a curve now, and you came out on the bottom".
WTF???
We're a team of 6 people, and I'm the only person that does what I do (a specialized technical role). The other 5 all do the same job, so there's no way to do an apples-to-apples compare of my job to anyone elses.
This is the lowest I've ever been rated in my 20 years at Wells Fargo. I've never had any problems with this manager (or any other), but he's been unusually abrupt lately. Frankly, he's been totally AWOL for the past few months, and I suspect that he's looking for another job (or expecting a layoff himself).
I'm the oldest person on my team by a fair margin. I know that shouldn't matter, but my gut instinct tells me that it DOES matter. I've been asked by several people "when are you going to retire" (answer: in a couple years, or if WF offers me a severance before then).
Glad this forum exists. It is nice to be able to ask anonymous questions like this, that would never get an honest answer from management or HR.
