Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Why is Chevron increasingly focusing on things that don't really matter?

Chevron continues to focus on the things that don’t matter. We are constantly distracted from actually doing our jobs and being productive. The process has us thinking or worrying about the next role so we never focus on the job at hand. Extremely counter productive and morale ki---r.

Exactly, @jzl+1clvKttD! It is not clear to me whether they are aware of how much they distract us by having to worry about all these side things? They distract us but want maximum productivity at the same time - it doesn’t work.

If all the managers pulled in from the outside and moved around for career advancement purposes don't know what really matters, how can they focus on it

Chevron has always implemented their flavor of the day, and gladly pay for it. Who remembers:
Deming’s Total Quality Improvement
CPDEP
CSOC
The Chevron Way
OEMS
Lean Sigma
Now it is digital transformation and Agile

StonkHolder value is all that matters and if that means Chevron's got to shuck and jive doing the green dance to make the stock bump then MW will be leading dance.

The bad news is to look at Exxon. For the better part of 15 years they resisted the trendy, the social engineering, and focused on finding and producing oil and gas. Then Engine No. 1 blindsided them. Now they'll be spending billions on green rather than on core competencies. Shell was similar, but got caught up in the European mindset (not to mention European courts) that you have to go green as quickly as possible. Chevron, particularly under MW, is a slave to the trendy, whatever it is today. The real message is that Chevron is no longer in growth mode, but rather in (hopefully) controlled decline mode.

I believe management is clueless or don’t care. Wearing us out and losing engagement, trust and loyalty. Wish we can pull a stop the job to all these meaningless initiatives. They keep piling it on and never take anything away. Grateful for a job but let’s be real and let’s get back to the basics and add value to the bottom line!!!
