Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If interviewing, can you say that WF is up to date with processes, softwares, platforms and internal processes and procedures

Aside from the lambasting that IT takes on this website, overall, I would still give my area a 7 out of possible 10. We still do pretty well.

Absolutely I can say that WF is up to date with processes, softwares, platforms and internal processes and procedures. I am not going to name the dare though.

Sure, you'll be a liar by saying Wells Fargo as a whole; whatever gets you away from this out of control dumpster fire. Good luck

Wells is a dinosaur in may respects in tech. Just look at how silly the on prem cloud is and public cloud is non-existent after so many fits and starts. Yeah, I know a lot has to do with regulators putting the kabosh on public cloud.

Processes? Horrible and uber inefficient. Getting anything done takes way longer than it should.

Yes, you can indeed say that that WF is up to date with processes, softwares, platforms and internal processes and procedures. Just don’t give that date.

I learned that trick from Charlie, Bill Daley and Conor’s posse.

Perfectly said. I’ll bet we probably know each other. I’m former AG Edwards. I’m glad you got out of the “sheyat” ho-e.

@zha I worked in WFA back office many moons ago, long before SmartStation and the separation of Info & OpsMAX. I always explained the systems to others as they had built a system (BETA) a long time ago and every enhancement is like putting a pile of sheyat on top of an existing pile of sheyat. Then the bigger dump (SS) was put on top as the supposedly "user friendly" interface. Granted it made sense at the time as you had some branches opening their own accounts and able to go rogue with having BETA access. One of the biggest issues they always had was BETA (and now SS) is proprietary to the bank/brokerage. Wachovia brought that with them. It's always cost too much for them to break their contract with Thompson Reuters and try to build a new system than it is to just "enhance" the current pile of sheyat. Best thing I ever did was get out of WFA about 10 years ago. The politics and sh*tty systems won't change.

At WFA, our core back office processing system BETAHost is a joke. There are so many manual workarounds required to make it appear like it’s somewhat functional: it’s frightening. It’s impossible to get any minor or significant improvements done. I don’t know what the solution is, and I’m sure neither do the execs. We just keep digging a bigger ho-e with it every year. WFC puts a lot of emphasis on the system being stable, which it is, but so is an adding machine.

Additionally, InfoMAX is a worthless maze of unhelpful information.

We can’t even get good phones - they just keep replacing our phones with cheaper sh-t every year. Can’t hear anyone, no longer able.to transfer people, constantly losing calls.

I don’t know how we stay in business.

Yes, it's not that bad. I have been very honest in my resume, listed all the tech stack in there, and guess what: I got 7 recruiters contacted me for interviews. I am so overwhelmed with interviews right now.
